Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.
Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.
When your lifted truck sits high and the trailer coupler sits low, you end up towing at a bad angle that chews on the tires, the frame, and everything strapped in back. Drop the tongue with a plain steel hitch and you fix the height but trade it for a ride that slams every frost heave and hard stop straight into the truck. The Shocker XR handles both problems at once. One frame adjusts up to 7-1/2 inches of rise and 7-1/2 inches of drop, so you can level almost any trailer to almost any truck, and the same multi-ply airbag from the HD line soaks up the road the whole time. It is built as a base plus swappable attachments, so you buy the chassis once and switch attachments as your trailers change instead of re-buying a whole hitch. This 10-hole base frame is rated up to 16,000 lbs GTW and ships with its pins, ready to run.

What Extended Range Means
Drop AND Rise in One Frame
Most drop hitches give you a few inches one way and leave you stuck. The XR frame carries adjustment holes across the full range, up to 7-1/2 inches of rise on one end and up to 7-1/2 inches of drop on the other. Flip it, pick your hole, pin it, and land anywhere in between to get the trailer sitting level.
Air Ride Across the Whole Range
A solid steel drop hitch fixes your height and then beats you up on every bump. The XR carries the same multi-ply airbag used in the HD line right inside the chassis, so you get smooth, tunable cushioning at any drop or rise setting instead of that harsh ride.
Base Plus Attachment LEGO Model
Buy the XR base frame once. Add the attachment you need today, whether that is a ball mount, pintle hook, clevis, drawbar, or combo ball. Switch attachments as your trailers change instead of buying a whole new hitch, and your total cost stays lower over the years.
Two Frame Variants
The 8-hole frame covers most lifted trucks and standard low-tongue trailers. The 10-hole frame stretches the range further for extreme setups. Both run on the same attachment lineup, so you are never locked out of an option.
Built For These Buyers
If your towing changes with the season, different trailers, different trucks, different loads, the XR is built to keep up.
- Lifted-truck owners who need more than 6 inches of drop to sit level
- Households towing a boat, camper, and equipment trailer at different tongue heights
- Trailer dealers and fleets standardizing on one frame across many trailers
- Anyone bouncing between bumper-pull trailers and pintle-ring trailers
- Off-road and overland folks hitching to all kinds of trailers
- Owners who want one frame that covers every scenario
XR Extended Range vs Fixed-Frame Air Hitches
The XR follows a different game plan than a fixed-frame hitch. Here is when it wins and when a fixed-frame line is the smarter call.
XR Extended Range (modular)
Wider drop and rise in one frame. Lower starting price, with entry frame-only SKUs under $300. Attachments swap in seconds. Best if you run multiple trailers, fight unusual height mismatches, or just want room to change your setup down the road.
Original Shocker, HD Max Black, or HD line (fixed-frame)
Standard drop range, around 6 to 7 inches. Ships as a complete hitch with the attachment you pick at checkout. A little simpler to spec if you only own one trailer. Best if you tow a single trailer at a known tongue height and do not need extreme adjustability.
The LEGO Model: Buy Once, Swap Forever
The XR is the only bumper-pull line in the Shocker catalog built around a true base-plus-attachment design. The frame stays in your truck. The attachments live in the toolbox or on a garage shelf. When you go from boat trailer to dump trailer to pintle-ring overland trailer, you pull two pins, swap the attachment, and re-pin in under a minute, no re-buying a complete hitch every time. Over years of towing a mixed fleet, that saves real money and real garage space.
Heavy-Duty Steel, Black Powder Coat
The chassis is heavy-gauge steel wrapped in a tough black powder coat that shrugs off weather and road grime. The airbag is the same multi-ply commercial-grade unit found across the HD line. Every XR is backed by Shocker's 60-day satisfaction guarantee and ships direct from our Canadian warehouse, so there is no border wait. One thing to plan for: your receiver size sets the top capacity. A 2-inch shank rates up to 12,000 lbs, a 2-1/2 inch up to 18,000 lbs, and a 3-inch up to 20,000 lbs.
