Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.
Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.
The Shocker XR Extended Range is a purpose-built drop-hitch chassis for buyers who need extreme adjustability in both directions — up to 7-1/2 inches of rise and 7-1/2 inches of drop in one frame. Unlike fixed-frame air hitches, the XR is sold as a base plus interchangeable attachments — buy the chassis once, swap attachments as trailers change. This XR Clevis Hitch w/1-1/4" Holes is rated up to 12,000 lbs GTW with 1-1/2" Rise to 6" Drop and fits receivers.

What Extended Range Means
Drop AND Rise in One Frame
Most drop hitches give you a few inches of drop or a few of rise, but not both. The XR frame is engineered with adjustment holes spanning the full range — up to 7-1/2 inches of rise on one end, up to 7-1/2 inches of drop on the other. Flip and pin to land anywhere in between.
Air Ride Across the Whole Range
The same multi-ply airbag used in the HD line lives inside the XR chassis. You get smooth, tunable suspension at any drop or rise setting — not the harsh ride of a typical solid drop hitch.
Base + Attachment LEGO Model
Buy the XR base frame once. Add the attachment you need today — ball mount, pintle hook, clevis, drawbar, combo ball. Switch attachments as your trailers change. Lower total cost than buying a complete hitch for every scenario.
Two Frame Variants
The 8-hole frame covers most lifted trucks and standard low-tongue trailers. The 10-hole frame extends the range further for extreme setups. Both share the same attachment ecosystem.
Built For These Buyers
If your hitch needs change every season — different trailers, different trucks, different loads — the XR is engineered for you.
- Owners of lifted trucks needing more than 6 inches of drop
- Households with multiple trailers (boat, camper, equipment) at different tongue heights
- Trailer dealers and fleet operators standardizing on one frame across many trailers
- Buyers swapping between bumper-pull trailers and pintle-ring trailers regularly
- Off-road and overland users hitching to a wide variety of trailer types
- owners who want one frame to cover every scenario
XR Extended Range vs Fixed-Frame Air Hitches
The XR is a different product philosophy. Here is when it wins and when a fixed-frame line is the better choice.
XR Extended Range (modular)
Wider drop AND rise in one frame. Lower starting price (entry SKUs from under $300 for frame-only). Modular attachments swap in seconds. Best for buyers with multiple trailers, unusual height mismatches, or anyone who wants long-term flexibility.
Original Shocker, HD Max Black, or HD line (fixed-frame)
Standard drop range (about 6–7 inches). Ships as a complete hitch with the attachment selected at purchase. Slightly easier to specify if you only have one trailer. Best for buyers with a single trailer at a known tongue height who do not need extreme adjustability.
The LEGO Model — Buy Once, Swap Forever
The XR is the only bumper-pull line in the Shocker catalog designed around a true base-plus-attachment architecture. The frame stays in your truck. The attachments live in the toolbox or the garage. When you switch from boat trailer to dump trailer to pintle-ring overland trailer, you swap the attachment in under a minute — no re-buying a complete hitch every time. Over years of mixed-trailer ownership, this saves real money and real garage space.
Heavy-Duty Steel, Black Powder Coat
Heavy-gauge steel chassis with a durable black powder coat finish. The airbag is the same multi-ply commercial-grade unit used across the HD line. Backed by Shocker's lifetime frame warranty and 60-day satisfaction guarantee. Manufactured by Shocker Hitch in Jamestown, ND. Note: receiver size determines maximum GTW capacity — 2-inch shanks rate up to 12,000 lbs, 2-1/2 inch up to 18,000 lbs, 3-inch up to 20,000 lbs.
