Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.
Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.
Every time the trailer drops into a frost heave or you have to grab the brakes hard, that jolt shoots straight up the receiver and into your truck, your load, and your spine. The Max Black 14K puts a stop to it. It's the same Original Shocker Air Hitch chassis, with a built-in air spring that soaks up the jerking and chucking before it ever reaches you, now finished in a textured matte-black powder coat. You get the full 14,000 lbs of pulling capacity, so it hauls the heaviest trailer you'll put behind an F-150-class half-ton (and it fits class III/IV 2-inch receivers), and the black finish hides scratches, shrugs off road rash, and pairs with a blacked-out truck for a more rugged, upmarket look than the classic red.
Key Highlights
- Pulls a full 14,000 lbs GTW on the proven 8-hole chassis, enough for the heaviest trailer behind a half-ton or three-quarter-ton
- Textured matte-black powder coat hides the scratches and chips that make a hitch look beat, so it ages better than glossy paint
- Drops into any 2-inch receiver on an F-150-class half-ton truck (and class III/IV receivers)
- Air up for a heavy load or down for a light one, so the ride stays smooth no matter what you're towing
- Single rocker-arm pivot means fewer moving parts to wear out and a longer service life
- 1/2" to 4-1/2" of drop lets you level the trailer so it tows flat and true
- Matches blacked-out trucks, dark wheels, and modern OEM packages
- Backed by our 60-day satisfaction guarantee, so you can try it on your own rig

How Shocker Air Ride Works
Built-In Air Spring
A heavy-duty air bag sits under the receiver tube and takes the hit before it reaches your truck or trailer. No hard steel-on-steel connection to pass the jolt through.
Adjustable for Any Load
Add air for a heavier trailer, let some out for a lighter one. Set the pressure and the hitch sits at the right ride height every time you hook up.
Rocker-Arm Pivot
Shocker's signature down-and-back motion runs on a single pivot, with no slides, rollers, parallel linkages, or stacked airbags. Fewer parts to wear means it lasts longer.
Dual Bump Cushions
Two rubber cushions catch the extreme jolts the air bag can't fully swallow, so the system has a backup for when the road really hammers you.
Why Buyers Choose the Black Finish
Same proven 14K chassis as the Original. The only difference is the finish and how it looks parked in your driveway.
- Textured matte black hides scratches and chips far better than glossy red
- Matches blacked-out OEM packages like King Ranch, Limited, AT4, Rebel, and Platinum
- No fade-line where the receiver enters, so it looks newer for longer
- A finish that looks the part for buyers who treat their truck like a statement piece
- The same 20+ Shocker ball-mount attachments come in matching black
- Identical air-ride performance, so it's a pure looks-and-durability upgrade
Sway Control: Two Configurations
The Max Black ships with or without sway-control tabs, depending on the ball-mount attachment you pick:
Standard Ball Mount (No Sway Tabs)
Best for boats, livestock trailers, equipment haulers, and anything that doesn't need friction sway bars. The pivoting air-ride design already cuts down on sway tendency by itself.
Ball Mount With Welded Sway Tabs
Adds welded tabs so you can bolt on a friction sway-bar kit (sold separately). The pick for travel trailers and tall campers that get pushed around by crosswinds.
Flippable Drop / Rise Geometry
This hitch ships set up for 1/2" to 4-1/2" of drop. Most Shocker ball mounts flip over, so you can turn that drop into rise, and the 8 adjustment holes let you fine-tune the coupler height. Towing a low travel trailer behind a lifted truck or a tall camper behind a stock pickup, the geometry adjusts either way.
Premium Finish
Built on the same heavy-wall steel chassis as the Original 14K. The textured matte-black powder coat is made to fight UV fade, hide the micro-scratches you get from sliding it in and out of the receiver, and hold up better than glossy paint on salt-covered highways and gravel roads. Backed by Shocker Hitch's 60-day satisfaction guarantee.
