I've ridden in the trailer myself — the difference in shock is huge. Our horses come off so much more relaxed, and there's less wear on the truck and trailer too.

The base frame features an impact-resistant Max Black™ premium powder-coat finish, ensuring durability and a sleek look.

Easily fine-tune your setup for towing by adding air for heavier loads, ensuring optimal performance.

8 Adjustment Holes & Drop Ball Mount

This drop mount offers an adjustable range of 4-1/2" to 8-1/2" of drop and is compatible with a 2" chrome hitch ball.

Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.

Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.

You feel every frost heave and hard stop come straight through a solid steel hitch, and that constant jerk and chuck is what wears on your coupler, your frame, and whatever you've got loaded. The Max Black 14K soaks it up. It's the proven Original Shocker Air Hitch chassis with an adjustable air spring built in, rated for 14,000 lbs of gross trailer weight and 1,400 lbs on the tongue, and it's finished in a textured matte-black powder coat that hides scratches, resists fade, and looks right at home behind a blacked-out truck.

How Shocker Air Ride Works

Built-In Air Spring

A heavy-duty air bag sits under the receiver tube and takes the jerking, tugging, and impact of the road before any of it reaches your truck or trailer. There's no rigid steel-on-steel connection passing the hit straight through.

Air You Set to the Load

Add air when you're loaded heavy, let some out when you're running light. You dial in the pressure so the hitch sits at the right ride height every time you hook up, no guessing.

Single-Pivot Rocker Arm

Shocker's down-and-back motion runs on one pivot, with no slides, rollers, parallel linkages, or stacked airbags. Fewer moving parts means less to wear out and a longer service life.

Backup Bump Cushions

Two rubber cushions catch the extreme jolts the air bag can't fully take, so you've got a built-in safety margin when the road really hits hard.

Why Buyers Choose the Black Finish

Same proven 14K chassis as the Original. The only difference is the finish and how it presents.

  • Textured matte black hides scratches and rock chips far better than a glossy red finish
  • Matches blacked-out factory trucks like the King Ranch, Limited, AT4, Rebel, and Platinum
  • Looks newer for longer, with no fade line where the receiver meets the bumper
  • A cleaner, more premium look if your truck is part of the statement
  • Backed by the same 20-plus Shocker ball-mount attachments, available in matching black
  • Identical air-ride performance, so this is purely a looks and durability upgrade

Two Setups for Sway Control

The Max Black comes with or without sway-control tabs, depending on the ball-mount attachment you pick:

Option 1

Standard Ball Mount (No Sway Tabs)

Best for boats, livestock trailers, equipment haulers, and any load that doesn't fight crosswinds. The pivoting air-ride design already cuts down sway tendency on its own.

Option 2

Ball Mount With Welded Sway Tabs

Adds welded mounting tabs for friction sway-bar kits (sold separately). This is the one for tall travel trailers and campers that catch the wind and start to wander.

Get Your Trailer Sitting Level

A hitch that sits too high or too low makes your trailer ride nose-up or nose-down, which throws off braking and chews through tires unevenly. This one ships set for a 4-1/2 inch to 8-1/2 inch drop. Most Shocker ball mounts flip over to turn that drop into a rise, and the 8 adjustment holes let you fine-tune coupler height until the trailer rides level. A low travel trailer behind a lifted truck or a tall camper behind a stock pickup, the geometry adapts either way.

A Finish Built to Last

Salt, gravel, and hard UV take the shine off a glossy hitch fast, and every time you slide the shank in and out you scratch it. This one is built on the same heavy-wall steel chassis as the Original 14K and wears a textured matte-black powder coat made to resist UV fade, hide those insertion scratches, and hold up better than a glossy finish through salt-belt winters and gravel roads. It's backed by Shocker Hitch's 60-day satisfaction guarantee.
