Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.
Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.
Every hard stop, frost heave, and expansion joint sends a jolt straight up through a solid hitch and into your truck, your trailer, and everything you loaded inside. Mile after mile that pounding loosens hardware and beats up your cargo. The Shocker Max Black Air Hitch takes the hit first. A built-in air spring soaks up the hard yank and the chucking, so a trailer up to 14,000 lbs rides smooth instead of jerking you at every bump. It runs on the same air-ride chassis as the Original Shocker, finished here in a textured matte-black powder coat that hides receiver scratches, resists fade, and looks right at home under a blacked-out truck.

How Shocker Air Ride Works
The Air Spring Takes the Hit
A heavy-duty air bag sits under the receiver tube and soaks up the yanking, tugging, and pounding before any of it reaches your truck or trailer. There is no solid metal-to-metal connection driving road shock into the frame, so the jolts stop at the hitch instead of traveling through your rig.
Dial In Your Exact Load
Add air for a heavy load, bleed it off for a light one. Setting the right pressure keeps the hitch at proper ride height every time you hook up, whether the trailer is loaded to the roof or running empty on the way home.
One Simple Pivot, Fewer Parts to Fail
Shocker's signature down-and-back motion runs on a single rocker-arm pivot. There are no slides, rollers, parallel linkages, or stacked airbags to wear out and rattle loose. Fewer moving parts means less to service and a longer life on rough roads.
Backup Cushions for the Big Hits
Catch a pothole or a railroad crossing hard enough to bottom out the air bag and two rubber bump cushions are there to take the extreme jolt. It is a built-in safety margin so the worst hits still have something to land on.
Why Buyers Choose the Black Finish
Same proven 14K chassis as the Original. The only difference is finish and presentation.
- Textured matte black hides the scratches and rock chips that show up fast on glossy red
- Blends right in with blacked-out OEM packages (King Ranch, Limited, AT4, Rebel, Platinum)
- No ugly fade-line where the receiver slides into the bumper, so it stays looking new for years
- A clean, premium look for anyone who treats their truck as a statement piece
- All 20+ Shocker ball-mount attachments come in matching black
- Same air-ride performance as the red version. This upgrade is finish and durability only
Two Ways to Handle Sway
Depending on the ball-mount attachment you pick, the Max Black comes with or without welded sway-control tabs. Here is how to know which one fits your trailer:
Standard Ball Mount (No Sway Tabs)
The right call for boats, livestock trailers, equipment haulers, and any load that does not need friction sway bars. The pivoting air-ride design already settles a lot of sway on its own, so plenty of trailers never need more.
Ball Mount With Welded Sway Tabs
Adds welded tabs so you can bolt on a friction sway-bar kit (sold separately). Go this route for travel trailers and tall-profile campers that get shoved around by crosswinds and passing semis.
Flip It for Drop or Rise
A trailer that rides nose-high or nose-low chews up its tires and tows squirrelly. This Max Black ships set up as a 4-1/2" to 8-1/2" drop ball mount, and like most Shocker ball mounts it is reversible. Flip it to turn that drop into a rise, or use the 8 adjustment holes to fine-tune coupler height until the trailer sits dead level. A low travel trailer behind a lifted truck or a tall camper behind a stock pickup, the geometry works either way.
A Finish That Holds Up
This is the same heavy-wall steel chassis as the Original 14K, so nothing about the strength changes. The textured matte-black powder coat is built to fight UV fade, hide the micro-scratches the receiver leaves every time you slide the shank in, and outlast glossy paint on salt-covered winter roads and washboard gravel. Every Max Black is backed by Shocker Hitch's 60-day satisfaction guarantee.
