Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.
Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.
Every bump, frost heave, and hard stop sends a jolt from your trailer into your truck and back again, and over the miles that constant jerking wears on your receiver, your coupler, and your cargo. The Max Black 14K puts a heavy-duty air spring between the two to soak it up before you ever feel it. It's the same chassis and air-ride engineering as the Original Shocker Air Hitch, rated to haul 14,000 lbs, just finished in a textured matte-black powder coat instead of the classic red. That black hides the scratches a receiver picks up over the years, matches a blacked-out truck, and gives this hitch a tougher, more upmarket look. It comes set up with a 2-5/16" ball and welded sway bar tabs, ready to hook up and pull.

How the Air Ride Works
Built-In Air Spring
A heavy-duty air bag sits under the receiver tube and soaks up the jerking, tugging, and hard hits before they ever reach your truck or trailer. Nothing bolts solid, so nothing gets to transfer the shock.
Air You Can Adjust
Pump in air for a heavy load, let some out for a light one. You set the pressure so the hitch rides at the right height every time you hook up.
Single Rocker-Arm Pivot
Shocker's down-and-back motion runs on one pivot, with no slides, rollers, parallel linkages, or stacked airbags. Fewer moving parts means less to wear out and a longer service life.
Dual Bump Cushions
Two rubber cushions catch the extreme jolts the air bag can't fully swallow, so there's a backup layer built in for when you hit something hard.
Why Buyers Choose the Black Finish
Same proven 14K chassis as the Original. The only difference is the finish and how it presents.
- Textured matte black hides scratches and chips far better than glossy red
- Matches blacked-out OEM trims like King Ranch, Limited, AT4, Rebel, and Platinum
- No fade-line where the receiver slides into the bumper, so it keeps looking new
- The right look for a truck you treat as a statement piece
- All 20+ Shocker ball-mount attachments come in matching black
- Air-ride performance is identical, so this is a finish and durability upgrade with nothing lost
Two Ways to Handle Sway
This hitch ships with or without sway-control tabs, depending on the ball-mount attachment you pick:
Standard Ball Mount (No Sway Tabs)
Right for boats, livestock trailers, equipment haulers, and anything that doesn't need friction sway bars. The pivoting air-ride design already calms sway on its own.
Ball Mount With Welded Sway Tabs
Adds welded tabs to bolt on a friction sway-bar kit (sold separately). The pick for travel trailers and tall campers that catch a crosswind and start to wander.
Flip It for Drop or Rise
This hitch ships set up for 4-1/2" to 8-1/2" of drop. Most Shocker ball mounts flip over, so you can turn that drop into rise, and the 8 adjustment holes let you fine-tune the coupler height in between. Towing a low travel trailer behind a lifted truck, or a tall camper behind a stock pickup? The geometry adjusts either way so the trailer rides level.
A Finish Built to Last
Underneath it's the same heavy-wall steel chassis as the Original 14K. The textured matte-black powder coat is made to fight off UV fade, hide the micro-scratches a receiver leaves every time you slide it in, and hold up longer than glossy finishes on salt-belt highways and gravel roads. Backed by Shocker Hitch's 60-day satisfaction guarantee.
