Smoother, Safer Towing
Experience the benefits of air ride towing technology with a heavy-duty built-in air spring designed to cushion your ride and absorb road shocks.
Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.
Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.
Every hard stop, frost heave, and stretch of washboard gravel sends a jolt straight through a rigid hitch into your truck, your trailer, and whatever you packed inside it. That chucking and jarring is what chews up couplers, cracks trailer frames, and leaves your back aching after a long haul. The Shocker Max Black Air Hitch & Drop Ball Mount w/ 2-5/16" Ball puts a heavy-duty air spring between truck and trailer to soak up those hits before they reach you. It runs the same Original Shocker Air Hitch chassis and the same air-ride engineering, rated for 14,000 lbs GTW and dropping into a standard 2-inch receiver, so it hauls the heaviest trailer you'll put behind an F-150-class half-ton (or any class III/IV receiver). The difference is the finish. A textured matte-black premium powder coat that hides scratches, shrugs off receiver scuffs, and looks right at home on a blacked-out truck instead of the classic red.

How Shocker Air Ride Softens the Ride
Built-In Air Spring
A heavy-duty air bag sits under the receiver tube and soaks up the jerking, tugging, and hard hits before they ever reach your truck or trailer. There's no rigid metal-on-metal link passing the shock straight through.
Air It Up for Any Load
Add air for a heavy load, bleed some off for a light one. Set the pressure so the hitch rides at the right height every time you hook up, whether the trailer is empty or maxed out.
Rocker-Arm Pivot
Shocker's signature down-and-back motion runs on a single pivot, with no slides, rollers, parallel linkages, or stacked airbags. Fewer moving parts means less to wear out and a longer service life.
Dual Bump Cushions
Two backup rubber cushions catch the extreme jolts the air bag can't fully swallow, like a deep pothole hit at speed, so the system always has a second line of defense under a heavy load.
Why Buyers Go With the Black Finish
It's the same proven 14K chassis as the Original. The only difference is the finish and how it presents.
- Textured matte black hides rock chips and scratches far better than a glossy red finish
- Matches blacked-out OEM packages like King Ranch, Limited, AT4, Rebel, and Platinum
- No ugly fade-line where the receiver slides into the bumper, so it looks newer longer
- The right look for anyone who treats their truck as a statement piece
- The same 20+ Shocker ball-mount attachments come in matching black
- Air-ride performance is identical to the red, so this is a pure looks-and-durability upgrade
Sway Control: Two Ways to Set It Up
The Max Black comes with or without sway-control tabs, depending on the ball-mount attachment you pick:
Standard Ball Mount, No Sway Tabs
Right for boats, livestock trailers, equipment haulers, and any load that doesn't need friction sway bars. The pivoting air-ride design already cuts down on sway tendency by itself.
Ball Mount With Welded Sway Tabs
Adds welded tabs so you can bolt on a friction sway-bar kit (sold separately). The pick for travel trailers and tall campers that get pushed around by crosswinds and passing semis.
Flip It From Drop to Rise
This Shocker Max Black Air Hitch & Drop Ball Mount w/ 2-5/16" Ball ships set up for 4-1/2" to 8-1/2" of drop. Most Shocker ball mounts are reversible, so you can flip the mount to turn that drop into rise, then use the 8 adjustment holes to fine-tune coupler height until the trailer sits level. Towing a low travel trailer behind a lifted truck or a tall camper behind a stock pickup, the geometry adapts either way.
A Finish Built to Last
It's built on the same heavy-wall steel chassis as the Original 14K, so nothing about the strength changes. The textured matte-black powder coat is made to fight off UV fade, hide the micro-scratches you get every time the shank slides into the receiver, and hold up longer than glossy finishes on salt-covered winter roads and gravel backroads. Backed by Shocker Hitch's 60-day satisfaction guarantee.
