Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.
Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.
Every frost heave, expansion joint, and panic stop on a rigid hitch travels straight through the ball and into your truck, your trailer, and whatever you packed inside it. That constant jerking and chucking is what wears out couplers, works trailer frames loose, and turns a long haul into a white-knuckle grind. The Max Black 14K puts an air spring between your truck and the load so those hits get soaked up before you ever feel them. It is the Original Shocker Air Hitch chassis in a textured matte-black powder coat, with the same 14,000 lbs of towing capacity (enough for the heaviest trailer you'll put behind an F-250 or RAM 2500-class three-quarter-ton truck running a class V, 2-1/2-inch receiver), the same air-ride engineering, finished in a stealth black that hides scratches, ages better than glossy red, and matches a blacked-out truck.

How Shocker Air Ride Works
Built-In Air Spring
A heavy-duty air bag sits under the receiver tube and eats the jerking, tugging, and impact before it ever reaches your truck or trailer. There is no rigid metal-to-metal connection passing the shock straight through.
Set It for the Load You're Pulling
Add air when the trailer is loaded heavy, bleed some off when it's running light. You dial in the pressure so the hitch sits at proper ride height every time you hook up, instead of nose-high or dragging in back.
Rocker-Arm Pivot
Shocker's signature down-and-back motion rides on a single pivot. No slides, no rollers, no parallel linkages, no stacked airbags to wear out. Fewer moving parts means less to fail and a longer service life.
Dual Bump Cushions
When a pothole or hard hit is bigger than the air bag can swallow, two rubber backup cushions catch the extreme jolt. It's a built-in safety margin so nothing bottoms out hard under a heavy load.
Why Buyers Choose the Black Finish
It's the same proven 14K chassis as the Original. The only difference is the finish and how it looks on your truck.
- Textured matte black hides the scratches and chips that glossy red shows off
- Matches blacked-out factory trucks (King Ranch, Limited, AT4, Rebel, Platinum)
- No ugly fade line where the receiver slides into the bumper, so it looks new longer
- A clean, upmarket look for a truck you're proud to be seen pulling
- Backed by 20+ Shocker ball-mount attachments in matching black
- Same air-ride performance as the red hitch, so you give up nothing but the color
Sway Control: Two Configurations
You can order the Max Black with or without welded sway-control tabs, depending on the ball-mount attachment you pick:
Standard Ball Mount (No Sway Tabs)
Great for boats, livestock trailers, equipment haulers, and anything that doesn't need friction sway bars. The pivoting air-ride design already cuts down on sway all by itself.
Ball Mount With Welded Sway Tabs
Comes with welded tabs for bolting on a friction sway-bar kit (sold separately). This is the one to get for tall travel trailers and campers that get pushed around by crosswinds and passing semis.
Flip It for Drop or Rise
A trailer that rides nose-up or tail-down chews through tires and sways more than it should. This hitch ships in a 1/2" to 4-1/2" Drop setup, and like most Shocker ball mounts it flips over to turn that drop into a rise. Between flipping the mount and the 8 adjustment holes, you can set the coupler height to sit level whether you're pulling a low travel trailer behind a lifted truck or a tall camper behind a stock pickup.
A Finish Built to Last
Road salt, gravel, and years of UV sun fade a cheap finish fast, and every time you slide the shank into the receiver it leaves another scratch. This is built on the same heavy-wall steel chassis as the Original 14K, then coated in a textured matte-black powder coat made to shrug off UV fade, hide the scuffs at the receiver mouth, and hold up better than a glossy finish on salt-belt roads and gravel. Backed by Shocker Hitch's 60-day satisfaction guarantee.
