Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.
Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.
Every frost heave and hard stop sends a jolt up through a rigid hitch and into your truck, your trailer, and everything you're hauling. That constant chucking wears out your gear and beats you up on long runs. The Max Black 14K stops it. It's the proven Original Shocker Air Hitch chassis with a built-in air spring that absorbs the shock before it reaches you, rated to haul a full 14,000 lbs GTW behind an F-150-class half-ton (2-inch receiver, class III and IV trucks). The upgrade here is the finish: a textured matte-black premium powder coat that hides scratches, ages better than glossy red, and gives a blacked-out truck the presence to match. Same air ride, same capacity, cleaner look.
Key Highlights
- Hauls the heaviest trailer you'll put behind a half-ton or three-quarter-ton: 14,000 lbs GTW and up to 1,400 lbs on the tongue, on the proven 8-hole chassis
- Textured matte-black powder coat shrugs off road rash and chips, so it looks better with age
- Drops into any 2-inch receiver on F-150-class half-ton trucks (and class III/IV receivers)
- Add or release air to match the load, so the ride sits level whether you're hauling light or heavy
- Single rocker-arm pivot means fewer moving parts to wear out and a longer service life
- 1/2" to 4-1/2" Drop ball-mount geometry sets your trailer level behind the truck
- Looks right on blacked-out trucks, dark wheels, and modern OEM packages
- Backed by our 60-day satisfaction guarantee

How Shocker Air Ride Works
Built-In Air Spring
That harsh, jerky feeling comes from a solid steel link between truck and trailer. A heavy-duty air bag mounted under the receiver tube breaks that link, soaking up the tugging and impact before it reaches your truck or trailer. Nothing rigid left to pass the shock along.
Adjustable for Any Load
A loaded trailer and an empty one don't ride the same. Add air for heavier loads and let some out for lighter ones, so the hitch sits at proper ride height every time you hook up.
Rocker-Arm Pivot
Shocker's signature down-and-back motion runs on a single pivot, with no slides, rollers, parallel linkages, or stacked airbags to wear out. Fewer parts means a longer service life.
Dual Bump Cushions
When you hit a pothole or a railway crossing hard, backup rubber cushions catch the extreme jolts the air bag can't fully absorb. It's a built-in safety margin for the worst hits.
Why Buyers Choose the Black Finish
Same proven 14K chassis as the Original. All that changes is the finish and how it looks.
- Textured matte black hides scratches and chips far better than glossy red
- Matches blacked-out OEM packages like King Ranch, Limited, AT4, Rebel, and Platinum
- Stays looking newer longer, with no fade line where the receiver meets the bumper
- A premium look for owners who treat the truck as a statement piece
- The same 20+ Shocker ball-mount attachments come in matching black
- Same air-ride performance underneath, so this is a pure looks-and-durability upgrade
Sway Control: Two Configurations
The Max Black comes with or without sway-control tabs, depending on the ball-mount attachment you pick:
Standard Ball Mount (No Sway Tabs)
Right for boats, livestock trailers, equipment haulers, and any load that doesn't need friction sway bars. The pivoting air-ride design already helps settle sway on its own.
Ball Mount With Welded Sway Tabs
Adds welded tabs so you can bolt on a friction sway-bar kit (sold separately). Worth it for travel trailers and tall campers that catch crosswind and start to wander.
Flip It for Drop or Rise
A trailer that noses up or drags down at the ball rides rough and wears its tires unevenly. This hitch ships in a 1/2" to 4-1/2" Drop ball-mount configuration, and most Shocker ball mounts are reversible, so you can flip the mount to turn drop into rise, or use the 8 adjustment holes to fine-tune coupler height. Low travel trailer behind a lifted truck, or a tall camper behind a stock pickup, the geometry adapts to get you level.
A Finish Built to Last
Salt, gravel, and years of UV are hard on a hitch that lives outside. This one is built on the same heavy-wall steel chassis as the Original 14K, and the textured matte-black powder coat is made to resist UV fade, hide the micro-scratches you get from sliding it in and out of the receiver, and outlast glossy finishes on salt-belt and gravel roads. Backed by Shocker Hitch's 60-day satisfaction guarantee.
