Sway Control: Two Configurations
The Max Black ships with or without sway-control tabs depending on the ball-mount attachment you choose:
Standard Ball Mount (No Sway Tabs)
Best for boats, livestock trailers, equipment haulers, and any load that doesn’t need friction sway bars. The pivoting air-ride design naturally reduces sway tendency on its own.
Ball Mount With Welded Sway Tabs
Adds welded mounting tabs for friction sway-bar kits (sold separately). Recommended for travel trailers and tall-profile campers prone to crosswind sway.
Flippable Drop / Rise Geometry
This Shocker Max Black Air Hitch & Raised Ball Mount w/ 2" Ball & Sway Bar Tabs ships with a 2" Rise to 2" Drop ball-mount configuration. Most Shocker ball mounts are reversible — flip the mount to convert drop into rise, or use the 8 adjustment holes to fine-tune coupler height. Installation
Slide the Max Black shank into your truck's 2-inch receiver, secure with a hitch pin, and inflate the air bag to match your trailer's tongue weight. Attach the ball mount with the included D-handle pins. Hook up your trailer and adjust pressure until the truck and trailer sit level.
