Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.
Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.
Every frost heave and hard stop sends a jolt straight up the ball, through the hitch, and into your truck, your trailer, and whatever you packed inside. This is the Original Shocker Air Hitch chassis that soaks up that hit, wrapped in a textured matte-black premium powder coat. You get the same 14,000 lbs GTW capacity, the same air-ride engineering, and the same 2-inch fitment for F-150-class half-ton trucks (and class III/IV receivers), finished in a stealth black that hides scratches, coordinates with blacked-out trucks, and gives this Shocker Max Black Air Hitch & Raised Ball Mount w/ 2-5/16" Ball & Sway Bar Tabs a more rugged, upmarket presence than the classic red.

How Shocker Air Ride Works
Built-In Air Spring
A heavy-duty air bag sits under the receiver tube and soaks up the jerking, tugging, and impact before any of it reaches your truck or your trailer. There is no rigid metal-to-metal connection passing the shock straight through.
Adjustable for Any Load
Air up for a heavier load, bleed it down for a lighter one. Set the pressure so the hitch sits at the right ride height every time you hook up, no guessing.
Rocker-Arm Pivot
Shocker's signature down-and-back motion runs on a single pivot instead of slides, rollers, parallel linkages, or stacked airbags. Fewer parts moving means fewer parts to wear out and a longer service life.
Dual Bump Cushions
When a hit is big enough that the air bag can't swallow all of it, two backup rubber cushions catch the rest. That gives you a redundant safety margin under the hardest jolts.
Why Buyers Choose the Black Finish
Same proven 14K chassis as the Original. What changes is the finish and how it looks on your truck.
- Matte texture hides scratches and chips that show right up on glossy red
- Matches blacked-out OEM packages like King Ranch, Limited, AT4, Rebel, and Platinum
- Looks newer longer, with no fade line where the receiver enters the bumper
- A premium look for a truck you treat as a statement piece
- All 20+ Shocker ball-mount attachments come in matching black
- Identical air-ride performance, so this is a finish and durability upgrade only
Sway Control: Two Configurations
The Max Black comes with or without sway-control tabs, depending on the ball-mount attachment you choose:
Standard Ball Mount (No Sway Tabs)
Right for boats, livestock trailers, equipment haulers, and any load that does not need friction sway bars. The pivoting air-ride design already helps settle sway on its own.
Ball Mount With Welded Sway Tabs
Adds welded mounting tabs for a friction sway-bar kit (sold separately). The pick for travel trailers and tall campers that get pushed around by crosswinds and passing semis.
Flip It to Sit Level
A trailer that rides nose-high or tail-low chews through tires, brakes harder, and sways more than it should. This Shocker Max Black Air Hitch & Raised Ball Mount w/ 2-5/16" Ball & Sway Bar Tabs ships with a 2" Rise to 2" Drop ball-mount configuration, and most Shocker ball mounts are reversible, so you can flip the mount to turn drop into rise or use the 8 adjustment holes to fine-tune coupler height. Tow a low travel trailer behind a lifted truck or a tall camper behind a stock pickup, and the geometry adapts to sit the load level.
A Finish That Lasts
Salt, gravel, and years of sun are hard on a finish, and a glossy coat shows every insertion scratch at the receiver mouth. This is built on the same heavy-wall steel chassis as the Original 14K, then given a textured matte-black powder coat made to resist UV fade, hide the micro-scratches from sliding the shank in and out, and hold up longer than gloss in salt-belt and gravel-road country. Backed by Shocker Hitch's 60-day satisfaction guarantee.
