Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.
Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.
You feel it every time the road gets rough. The trailer chucks against the back of the truck, every frost heave and hard stop punches through the receiver, and by the end of a long haul your back, your truck, and your cargo have all taken the beating. The Shocker Max Black Air Hitch & Raised Ball Mount w/ 2-5/16" Ball puts an air spring between the truck and trailer so those jolts get soaked up before they reach you. It hauls up to 14,000 lbs, enough for the heaviest trailer you'll put behind a half-ton or three-quarter-ton, and it drops into any 2-inch receiver on an F-150-class half-ton (and class III/IV receivers). The difference here is the finish. It rides on the same proven chassis as the Original red hitch, wrapped in a textured matte-black powder coat that hides scratches and chips, matches a blacked-out truck, and keeps its looks for years.

How the Air Ride Soaks Up the Road
A Real Air Spring, Not Steel on Steel
A heavy-duty air bag sits under the receiver tube and catches the jerking, tugging, and hard impacts before they ever reach your truck or trailer. Nothing rigid ties the two together, so the shock has nowhere to travel.
Set the Pressure to the Trailer
Pump in more air for a heavy load, let some out for a light one. You dial in the pressure so the hitch rides at the right height every time you hook up, whether the trailer is loaded to the roof or running empty.
One Pivot, Not a Pile of Parts
Shocker's down-and-back motion runs on a single pivot. There are no slides, rollers, parallel linkages, or stacked airbags to wear out. Fewer moving parts means less to break and a longer life on the road.
Rubber Backups for the Big Hits
When a jolt is too big for the air bag to swallow on its own, two rubber cushions step in and take the rest. It's a built-in safety margin for the hardest hits.
Why Buyers Go Black
Same proven 14K chassis as the Original red. What changes is how it looks and how long it keeps looking that way.
- Textured matte black hides scratches and chips far better than glossy red
- Coordinates with blacked-out OEM packages (King Ranch, Limited, AT4, Rebel, Platinum)
- Keeps its look longer, with no fade line where the receiver enters the bumper
- A clean, premium look when your truck is part of the statement
- Works with the same 20+ Shocker ball-mount attachments, available in matching black
- Identical air-ride performance, so you gain looks and durability without giving anything up
Sway Control: Pick Your Setup
The Max Black ships with or without sway-control tabs, depending on the ball-mount attachment you pick:
Standard Ball Mount (No Sway Tabs)
Best for boats, livestock trailers, equipment haulers, and anything that doesn't need friction sway bars. The pivoting air-ride design already cuts down on sway on its own.
Ball Mount With Welded Sway Tabs
Adds welded mounting tabs for a friction sway-bar kit (sold separately). The pick for travel trailers and tall campers that catch crosswinds and start to wander.
Flip It to Match Your Truck's Height
This Shocker Max Black Air Hitch & Raised Ball Mount w/ 2-5/16" Ball ships in a 2" Rise to 2" Drop configuration. Most Shocker ball mounts flip over, so you can turn drop into rise, and the 8 adjustment holes let you fine-tune the coupler height. Towing a low travel trailer behind a lifted truck or a tall camper behind a stock pickup, the geometry adapts either way so the trailer sits level.
A Finish Built to Last
It's built on the same heavy-wall steel chassis as the Original 14K. The textured matte-black powder coat is made to resist UV fade, hide the micro-scratches you get every time the receiver slides in, and outlast glossy finishes on salt-covered highways and gravel roads. Backed by Shocker Hitch's 60-day satisfaction guarantee.
