Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.
Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.
Pull a loaded trailer down a rough highway and you feel every bit of it. Frost heaves, expansion joints, and hard stops jolt straight through a solid receiver into your truck, back into the trailer, and into whatever you're hauling. The Max Black 14K takes that hit for you. It's the Original Shocker Air Hitch chassis with a built-in air spring that soaks up the jerking and chucking before it reaches you, rated to pull 14,000 lbs GTW behind an F-150-class half-ton truck (or any class III/IV receiver) on a 2-inch fitment. What sets this one apart is the finish. A textured matte-black premium powder coat that hides scratches and chips, ages better than glossy paint, and disappears into a blacked-out truck instead of standing out in classic red. Same air-ride engineering, same capacity, a more rugged and upmarket look.

How Shocker Air Ride Works
The Air Bag Takes the Hit
A heavy-duty air bag sits under the receiver tube and swallows the jerking, tugging, and impact before it ever reaches your truck or trailer. There's no solid metal-to-metal connection to pass the shock straight through.
Set It for What You're Towing
Add air for a heavy load, let some out for a light one. Dial in the right pressure and the hitch sits at proper ride height every time you hook up.
One Simple Pivot
Shocker's signature down-and-back motion runs on a single pivot, with no slides, rollers, parallel linkages, or stacked airbags to wear out. Fewer moving parts means it lasts longer.
Backup Cushions for the Big Hits
Two rubber bump cushions catch the extreme jolts the air bag can't fully soak up, giving you a built-in backup for when the road throws something hard at you under a heavy load.
Why Buyers Choose the Black Finish
It's the same proven 14K chassis as the Original. The only difference is how it looks and how it wears.
- Textured matte black hides scratches and chips far better than glossy red
- Matches blacked-out OEM trim like King Ranch, Limited, AT4, Rebel, and Platinum
- No fade-line where the receiver meets the bumper, so it looks newer longer
- The right look for someone who treats their truck as a statement piece
- The same 20+ Shocker ball-mount attachments come in matching black
- Pure look-and-durability upgrade with the exact same air-ride performance
Sway Control: Two Configurations
Whether the Max Black comes with sway-control tabs depends on the ball-mount attachment you pick:
Standard Ball Mount (No Sway Tabs)
Good for boats, livestock trailers, equipment haulers, and any load that doesn't need friction sway bars. The pivoting air-ride design already helps settle sway on its own.
Ball Mount With Welded Sway Tabs
Adds welded mounting tabs so you can bolt on a friction sway-bar kit (sold separately). Worth it for travel trailers and tall campers that get pushed around in a crosswind.
Flip It to Match Your Trailer Height
A trailer that rides nose-up or nose-down chews through tires, brakes, and bearings and tows rougher the whole way. This Shocker Max Black Air Hitch & Raised Ball Mount w/ 2" Ball ships in a 2" Rise to 2" Drop ball-mount setup, and most Shocker ball mounts flip over to turn that drop into a rise. Use the 8 adjustment holes to fine-tune coupler height from there. Low travel trailer behind a lifted truck or a tall camper behind a stock pickup, you can get it sitting level either way.
A Finish Built to Last
Salt, gravel, and hard UV chew up a glossy hitch fast, and every time you slide it into the receiver it picks up another scratch. This is the same heavy-wall steel chassis as the Original 14K, wrapped in a textured matte-black powder coat built to resist UV fade, hide the micro-scratches from receiver insertion, and outlast glossy finishes on salt-belt roads and gravel. Backed by Shocker Hitch's 60-day satisfaction guarantee.
