Improves Safety
By giving you improved control of your tow vehicle and trailer. The air bag receiver hitch system allows for better control of your pickup and the trailer it is towing.
2 Hole Receiver Shank
Designed for 2" receiver hitch tubes with two hitch pin holes for length adjustability.
Built in Air Ride System
Absorbs road shock, bumps, jerks, tugs & bangs when towing & creates smooth ride. Plus it naturally reduces tendency to trailer sway. Dual rubber bump cushions also offer additional performance.
Safer Smoother Towing
Air ride towing technology with a heavy duty built in air ride suspension to cushion the ride & absorb the road shock. The air ride system sits under receiver tube.
Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.
Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.
Every frost heave, pothole, and hard stop on the highway sends a jolt straight up the receiver and into your truck and trailer, and you feel every one of them in your seat and your mirrors. The Max Black 14K puts an air spring between your truck and the load so those hits get soaked up before they ever reach you. It runs on the same air-ride chassis as the Original Shocker Air Hitch, rated to pull 14,000 lbs (the heaviest trailer you'll put behind a half-ton or three-quarter-ton) with the same 2-inch fitment for F-150-class half-ton trucks and class III/IV receivers. What changes is the finish. A textured matte-black powder coat hides scratches, matches a blacked-out truck, and gives this base frame (shipped without a ball mount) a more rugged, upmarket look than the classic red.
Key Highlights

How the Air Ride Takes the Hit
Built-In Air Spring
A heavy-duty air bag sits under the receiver tube and soaks up the jerking, tugging, and impact before any of it reaches your truck or trailer. Nothing's bolted solid, so there's no jolt passing straight through.
Adjustable for Any Load
Add air when the trailer's heavy, let some out when it's light. Set the pressure once and the hitch sits at the right ride height every time you hook up.
Rocker-Arm Pivot
Shocker's down-and-back motion runs on a single pivot, with no slides, rollers, parallel linkages, or stacked airbags. Fewer moving parts means less to wear out and a longer service life.
Dual Bump Cushions
Two backup rubber cushions catch the extreme jolts the air bag can't fully swallow, so you've got a safety margin when the road hits hard.
Why Owners Pick the Black Finish
Same proven 14K chassis as the Original. What changes is the finish and the presentation.
- Textured matte black hides scratches and chips far better than glossy red
- Matches blacked-out OEM packages like King Ranch, Limited, AT4, Rebel, and Platinum
- No fade-line where the receiver enters the bumper, so it looks newer for longer
- A finish that suits owners who treat the truck as a statement piece
- The same 20+ Shocker ball-mount attachments come in matching black
- Identical air-ride performance, so this is a look-and-durability upgrade only
Sway Control: Pick Your Setup
The Max Black comes with or without sway-control tabs, depending on the ball-mount attachment you choose:
Standard Ball Mount (No Sway Tabs)
Great for boats, livestock trailers, equipment haulers, and anything that doesn't need friction sway bars. The pivoting air-ride design already cuts down on sway tendency on its own.
Ball Mount With Welded Sway Tabs
Adds welded tabs for a friction sway-bar kit (sold separately). Worth it for travel trailers and tall-profile campers that get pushed around by crosswinds.
Flip It for Drop or Rise
This base frame ships set up for a 8 Adjustment Holes ball-mount configuration. Most Shocker ball mounts are reversible, so you can flip the mount to turn drop into rise, or work through the 8 adjustment holes to fine-tune coupler height. Tow a low travel trailer behind a lifted truck or a tall camper behind a stock pickup, and the geometry adapts to match.
A Finish Built to Last
It's built on the same heavy-wall steel chassis as the Original 14K. The textured matte-black powder coat is made to fight UV fade, hide the micro-scratches you get from sliding the receiver in and out, and hold up better than glossy finishes on salt-belt roads and gravel. Backed by Shocker Hitch's 60-day satisfaction guarantee.
