Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.
Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.
You feel it every time a heavy trailer catches a frost heave or you stand on the brakes. The load lunges, the truck bucks, and every jolt works into your hitch, your frame, and your cargo. The Shocker HD Max Black Air Hitch & Cushion Drawbar Mount drops an air spring between trailer and truck so those hits get soaked up instead of slamming through. It's the top of the Shocker bumper-pull line, rated for 20,000 lbs GTW, enough for the heaviest legal bumper-pull trailer you'll put behind an F-350, RAM 3500, or dual-rear-wheel one-ton (class V/VI receivers, 3-inch receiver tube). The heavy-duty airbag and beefier-wall HD chassis carry that weight, and the textured matte-black powder coat means you keep the looks. When you won't compromise on capacity or finish, this is it.

How Shocker HD Air Ride Works
20K-Rated Air Spring
The heavy multi-ply rubber air bag carries up to 20,000 lbs of trailer while it soaks up the hits that would otherwise beat on your truck and your cargo. Same air-ride guts as the HD Red, finished to match the matte-black chassis.
Adjustable for Heavy Loads
A heavy bumper-pull trailer can swing 1,000+ lbs between empty and loaded. Pump in air for a max-weight haul, bleed it off for the deadhead home, and the ride stays right either way. The HD airbag has a wider usable pressure range than the 14K.
Reinforced HD Chassis
Thicker-wall steel and reinforced welds rated for 20K loads, so it holds the weight without flexing. It keeps the same external 8-hole geometry, so every Shocker ball mount still fits, all in textured matte-black powder coat.
Rocker-Arm Pivot
Shocker's down-and-back motion rides on a single pivot, with no slides, rollers, or stacked airbags, even at HD loads. Fewer parts moving under that kind of stress means less to wear out and a longer service life.
Why Buyers Choose HD Max Black
The top of the core line, heavy-duty and premium-finish in one.
- Pulls the heaviest legal bumper-pull trailer at 20,000 lbs GTW
- Textured matte black shrugs off scratches better than glossy or red finishes
- Matches blacked-out OEM packages on Ford, RAM, Chevy, and GMC one-tons
- Available 3-inch receiver matches dual-rear-wheel truck factory hitches
- Fits the same 20+ Shocker ball-mount attachments, black-matched where offered
- No trade-off between capacity and looks
HD Max Black vs. Max Black 14K: What's Different
Same finish family, a step up in capacity:
Heavier Airbag + Walls
Steps up past the 14K. The 20K-rated HD airbag and reinforced steel walls carry a full 20,000 lbs GTW with tongue weight, so when your loads climb past what a 14K can handle, this is the frame that takes them.
Three-Inch Receiver Option
HD Max Black comes in a 3-inch receiver for dual-rear-wheel one-ton trucks, a size the Max Black 14K doesn't offer.
Flippable Drop / Rise Geometry
This hitch ships set up as a 1/2" to 4-1/2" drop ball mount. Most Shocker ball mounts are reversible, so you can flip the mount to turn drop into rise, or use the 8 adjustment holes to fine-tune coupler height. A heavy bumper-pull trailer is fussy about sitting level. Get the drop wrong and you overload the trailer's front or rear axle, so take the time to dial it in.
Premium Finish, HD Frame
Same reinforced HD chassis as the Shocker HD 20K Red, just finished in textured matte black. That powder coat is built to fight UV fade, hide the micro-scratches you get every time the shank slides into the receiver, and outlast glossy finishes on salt-belt and gravel roads. Backed by Shocker Hitch's 60-day satisfaction guarantee.
