Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.
Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.
You feel it every time the trailer's loaded. The jolt through the cab on frost heaves, the yank at a hard stop, the pounding that works your cargo loose over a long haul. The HD Max Black is Shocker's heaviest bumper-pull hitch, built to take that out of the ride. It carries 20,000 lbs GTW, enough for the biggest legal bumper-pull trailer you'll hook up, on a reinforced HD chassis wearing a textured matte-black powder coat. The 2-inch shank drops into a half-ton's class III or IV receiver, and there's a 3-inch option for dual-rear-wheel one-tons. When you want full capacity and a finish that matches a blacked-out truck without picking one over the other, this is it. In stock in Canada and shipping direct, no border wait.

How Shocker HD Air Ride Smooths the Road
Air Spring That Carries 20K
A heavy multi-ply rubber air bag sits between your truck and the trailer, holding up to 20,000 lbs while it soaks up the road shock that would otherwise pound the truck and everything you're hauling. Same air-ride guts as the HD Red, finished to match the matte-black frame.
Dial It In, Loaded or Empty
A big bumper-pull trailer can swing more than 1,000 lbs between empty and full. Pump in air for a heavy run, bleed it off for the deadhead home. The HD airbag has a wider usable pressure range than the 14K, so it stays in its sweet spot across those bigger swings.
Beefed-Up HD Frame
Thicker-wall steel and reinforced welds rated for 20K loads, kept to the same 8-hole outer pattern so every Shocker ball mount still bolts right on. Finished in textured matte-black powder coat.
One Simple Pivot, Nothing to Wear Out
The hitch moves down and back on a single rocker-arm pivot, with no slides, rollers, or stacked airbags to bind up, even under HD loads. Fewer parts working under that kind of stress means it lasts longer.
Why Buyers Choose HD Max Black
The top of the core line, heavy-duty and premium-finished at once.
- Maximum bumper-pull capacity, 20,000 lbs GTW
- Textured matte black hides scratches better than glossy or red
- Matches blacked-out packages on Ford, RAM, Chevy, and GMC one-tons
- 3-inch receiver option matches dual-rear-wheel truck factory hitches
- Works with the same 20+ Shocker ball-mount attachments, black-matched where offered
- No trade-off between capacity and looks
HD Max Black vs. Max Black 14K
Same finish family, a different capacity tier.
Heavier Airbag and Walls
The HD airbag is rated for 20K and the steel walls are reinforced, taking GTW up to 20,000 lbs. This is the one to reach for when your loads climb past what the Max Black 14K is built to carry.
Three-Inch Receiver Option
HD Max Black comes in a 3-inch receiver for dual-rear-wheel one-ton trucks, a setup the Max Black 14K doesn't offer.
Flip It for Drop or Rise
This Shocker HD Max Black Air Hitch & Cushion Drawbar Mount ships set up for 1/2" to 4-1/2" of drop. Most Shocker ball mounts flip over, so you can turn that drop into rise, and the 8 adjustment holes let you fine-tune coupler height from there. Getting a heavy bumper-pull trailer sitting level matters more than most people think. Run it nose-high or nose-low and you overload either the front or the rear axle of the trailer, so take the time to dial it in.
Premium Finish on an HD Frame
Same reinforced HD chassis as the Shocker HD 20K Red, wearing a textured matte-black powder coat built to hold up. It resists UV fade, hides the micro-scratches you get sliding it in and out of the receiver mouth, and outlasts glossy finishes on salt-covered winter roads and washboard gravel. Backed by Shocker Hitch's 60-day satisfaction guarantee.
