Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.
Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.
When you're pulling a heavy trailer behind a one-ton, every frost heave and hard stop slams straight up through the ball, into your truck, and back into whatever you're hauling. That jolting wears out your hitch, your trailer, and your nerves on a long day. The Shocker HD Max Black Air Hitch & Drawbar Mount puts an air spring between your trailer and your truck, so those hits get soaked up before they ever reach you. It handles 20,000 lbs GTW, Shocker's heaviest bumper-pull rating, so it hauls the biggest legal trailer you'll put behind an F-350, RAM 3500, or dual-rear-wheel one-ton (class V/VI receivers, 3-inch receiver tube). The whole thing wears a textured matte-black powder coat, so you get the toughest capacity and the sharpest finish in one hitch, with nothing to give up.

How Shocker HD Air Ride Works
20K-Rated Air Spring
The HD multi-ply rubber air spring carries up to 20,000 lbs of trailer and still soaks up the road shock before it reaches your truck and cargo. It's the same air-ride guts as the HD Red, just finished to match the matte-black frame.
Adjustable for Heavy Loads
A heavy bumper-pull trailer can swing 1,000+ lbs between empty and loaded, and the ride changes with it. Pump in air for a max-weight run, bleed it back off for the empty haul home. The HD air spring gives you a wider usable pressure range than the 14K.
Reinforced HD Chassis
It keeps the same external 8-hole geometry, so every Shocker ball mount still bolts on, but the steel is thicker-walled and the welds are reinforced for 20K loads. All of it wears the textured matte-black powder coat.
Rocker-Arm Pivot
Shocker's down-and-back motion rides on one pivot, with no slides, rollers, or stacked airbags to wear out, even under HD loads. Fewer parts taking the stress means it lasts longer out on the road.
Why Buyers Choose HD Max Black
The top of the core line, heavy-duty capacity with the premium finish.
- Shocker's top bumper-pull capacity at 20,000 lbs GTW
- Textured matte black hides scratches better than glossy or red
- Matches blacked-out factory trim on Ford, RAM, Chevy, and GMC one-tons
- 3-inch receiver matches dual-rear-wheel factory hitches
- Works with the same 20+ Shocker ball-mount attachments, black-matched where offered
- Gives you the capacity and the looks in one hitch
HD Max Black vs. Max Black 14K: What's Different
Same finish family, different capacity tier:
Heavier Airbag + Walls
The 20K-rated HD air spring and reinforced steel walls take you past what the Max Black 14K handles, up to 20,000 lbs GTW. It's the one to grab when your loads climb past 14k.
Three-Inch Receiver Option
HD Max Black comes in a 3-inch receiver for dual-rear-wheel one-ton trucks, a size the Max Black 14K doesn't offer.
Flippable Drop / Rise Geometry
This hitch ships set up with a 1/2" to 4-1/2" drop ball-mount configuration. Most Shocker ball mounts flip over, so you can turn that drop into a rise, or use the 8 adjustment holes to fine-tune your coupler height. A heavy bumper-pull trailer really cares about sitting level. Set the drop wrong and you overload either the front or rear axle of the trailer, so take a minute and dial it in.
Premium Finish, HD Frame
This runs on the same reinforced HD chassis as the Shocker HD 20K Red. The textured matte-black powder coat is built to fight UV fade, hide the micro-scratches you get sliding the shank in and out of the receiver, and hold up longer than glossy finishes on salt-belt roads and gravel. Backed by Shocker Hitch's 60-day satisfaction guarantee.
