Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.
Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.
Hitch a heavy trailer to a bare steel receiver and every frost heave, pothole, and hard stop slams straight up through the truck and back into your load, wearing on the rig and rattling the cargo mile after mile. The Shocker HD Max Black Air Hitch & Drawbar Mount drops an air spring in between so that shock gets absorbed instead of passed along. It's the top of the Shocker bumper-pull line: a heavy-duty 20,000 lbs GTW rating (with up to tongue weight) that pulls the heaviest legal bumper-pull trailer behind an F-250 or RAM 2500-class three-quarter-ton truck with a 2-1/2-inch receiver (class V receivers), all wrapped in a textured matte-black premium powder coat. Built on a beefier-wall HD chassis, it's for one-ton owners who refuse to trade capacity for finish or finish for capacity.

How Shocker HD Air Ride Works
The Air Spring That Takes the Hit
A heavy-duty multi-ply rubber air bag carries up to 20,000 lbs of trailer while it cushions the road shock that would otherwise pound on your truck and your cargo. Same proven engineering as the HD Red, finished to match the matte-black chassis.
Air Up or Bleed Down for the Load
A heavy bumper-pull trailer can swing more than 1,000 lbs between empty and loaded, and that changes how it rides. Pump air in for a max-weight haul, let it out for the deadhead home. The HD airbag has a wider usable pressure range than the 14K, so it covers more of that spread.
Reinforced HD Chassis
Keeps the same external 8-hole pattern so every Shocker ball mount still bolts right on, but the steel is thicker-walled and the welds are reinforced for 20K loads. Then it's finished in textured matte-black powder coat.
One Pivot, Not a Pile of Parts
Shocker's down-and-back motion runs on a single pivot. No slides, no rollers, no stacked airbags, even under HD loads. Fewer moving parts taking the strain means less to wear out and a longer service life.
Why Buyers Choose HD Max Black
The top of the core line: heavy-duty and premium-finish at once.
- Maxes out bumper-pull capacity at 20,000 lbs GTW
- Textured matte black hides scratches better than glossy or red
- Blends in with blacked-out packages on Ford, RAM, Chevy, and GMC one-tons
- 3-inch receiver option matches dual-rear-wheel factory hitches
- Works with the same 20+ Shocker ball-mount attachments, black-matched where offered
- No trade-off between capacity and looks
HD Max Black vs. Max Black 14K: What's Different
Same finish family, different capacity tier:
Heavier Airbag and Walls
The 20K-rated HD airbag and reinforced steel walls push usable capacity from 20,000 lbs on the 14K up to 20,000 lbs GTW with tongue weight. This is the one to grab when your loads climb past 14k.
Three-Inch Receiver Option
HD Max Black comes in a 3-inch receiver for dual-rear-wheel one-ton trucks, a configuration the Max Black 14K doesn't offer at all.
Flippable Drop / Rise Geometry
This Shocker HD Max Black Air Hitch & Drawbar Mount ships set up for 1/2" to 4-1/2" Drop. Most Shocker ball mounts flip over, so you can turn that drop into rise, and the 8 adjustment holes let you fine-tune coupler height on top of that. Getting it level matters more on a heavy bumper-pull trailer than most people expect. Run the wrong drop and you shove weight onto either the front or the rear trailer axle, so take a minute and dial it in.
Premium Finish, HD Frame
Underneath the finish it's the same reinforced HD chassis as the Shocker HD 20K Red. The textured matte-black powder coat is built to hold up. It resists UV fade, hides the micro-scratches you get every time a receiver slides in and out, and outlasts glossy finishes on salt-belt highways and gravel roads. Backed by Shocker Hitch's 60-day satisfaction guarantee.
