Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.
Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.
Pull a heavy trailer behind a one-ton on rough pavement and you feel every frost heave and hard stop slam straight up the receiver, into the truck, and back through the load. A rigid hitch has no give, so the trailer chucks and the whole rig fights you. The HD Max Black sits at the top of Shocker's bumper-pull line and puts an air spring between your truck and the trailer to soak up that shock, all while hauling the heaviest legal bumper-pull loads. Built for F-350, RAM 3500, and dual-rear-wheel one-ton trucks (class V/VI receivers) with a 3-inch receiver, it carries 20,000 lbs GTW and up to 2,000 lbs of tongue weight on a beefier-wall HD chassis, finished in a tough textured matte-black powder coat. It's the pick for one-ton owners who won't give up capacity to get the finish they want, or give up the finish to get the capacity.

How Shocker HD Air Ride Works
20K-Rated Air Spring
The HD multi-ply rubber air bag carries up to 20,000 lbs of trailer behind you and still soaks up the jolts before they reach the truck and your cargo. Same air-ride engineering as the HD Red, finished to match the matte-black chassis.
Dials In for Heavy Loads
A heavy trailer can swing 1,000+ lbs between empty and loaded, and a fixed hitch rides wrong at one end or the other. Air up for the max-weight run and bleed it back down for the deadhead. The HD airbag gives you a wider usable pressure range than the 14K.
Reinforced HD Chassis
It keeps the same external 8-hole pattern, so every Shocker ball mount still fits, and adds thicker-wall steel with reinforced welds rated for 20K loadings. All of it wears the textured matte-black powder coat.
Rocker-Arm Pivot
Shocker's down-and-back motion runs on a single pivot, with no slides, rollers, or stacked airbags, even at HD loadings. Fewer parts moving under that kind of stress means it holds up longer.
Why Buyers Choose HD Max Black
Our top-tier core line, heavy-duty and premium-finish at once.
- Tops out the bumper-pull line at 20,000 lbs GTW
- Textured matte black hides scratches better than glossy or red
- Matches blacked-out OEM packages on Ford, RAM, Chevy, and GMC one-tons
- 3-inch receiver matches dual-rear-wheel truck factory hitches
- Works with the same 20+ Shocker ball-mount attachments, black-matched where offered
- No trade-off between capacity and looks
HD Max Black vs. Max Black 14K, What's Different
Same finish family, a step up in capacity:
Heavier Airbag and Walls
The HD Max Black steps up from the 14K to a 20K-rated HD airbag and reinforced steel walls, so it carries 20,000 lbs GTW with 2,000 lbs of tongue weight. It's the one to grab when your loads climb past 14k.
Three-Inch Receiver Option
The HD Max Black comes in a 3-inch receiver for dual-rear-wheel one-ton trucks, a size the Max Black 14K doesn't offer.
Flip It for Drop or Rise
This hitch ships in a 4-1/2" to 8-1/2" Drop ball-mount setup. Most Shocker ball mounts flip over, so you can turn drop into rise, and the 8 adjustment holes let you fine-tune coupler height on top of that. Getting a heavy bumper-pull trailer sitting level really matters. Run it nose-high or nose-low and you overload the front or rear axle of the trailer, so take the time to dial it in.
Premium Finish on an HD Frame
It's built on the same reinforced HD chassis as the Shocker HD 20K Red. The textured matte-black powder coat is made to fight UV fade, hide the micro-scratches you get from sliding it in and out of the receiver, and last longer than glossy finishes on salt-belt roads and gravel. Backed by Shocker Hitch's 60-day satisfaction guarantee.
