I've ridden in the trailer myself — the difference in shock is huge. Our horses come off so much more relaxed, and there's less wear on the truck and trailer too.

Matte Black Finish

Impact resistant Max Black™ textured matte black Premium powder-coat finish on hitch.

Built-in HD Air Ride System

Absorbs road shock and creates a smooth ride & reduces trailer sway. Dual rubber bump cushions offer additional HD performance.

Improves Safety

By giving you improved control of your tow vehicle and trailer. The air bag receiver hitch system allows for better control of your pickup and the trailer it is towing.

12 Adjustment Holes & 4-1/2" to 12-1/2" of Drop

With the massive drop of this hitch, you should have at least 22" of height from the ground to the bottom of your trucks receiver tube. Choose a 2" or 2 5/16" hitch ball.

Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.

Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.

When your truck sits tall and the trailer tongue sits low, the trailer rides nose-high. You feel it as sway on the highway, uneven tire wear, and a nervous dive every time you hit the brakes. The Shocker HD Max Black Super Drop closes that gap. Its 12-hole Super Drop frame gives you up to 12-1/2 inches of drop, so you can finally pull the trailer level, and it does it on full air ride instead of dead steel. This Shocker HD Max Black Super Drop Air Hitch & Drop Ball Mount w/ 2-5/16" Ball is rated at 20,000 lbs GTW, fits 3-inch receivers, and adjusts from 4-1/2" to 12-1/2" of drop to dial in level tow on lifted rigs and low-deck trailers.

Key Highlights

Why the Super Drop Frame

Four Extra Holes, Enough Drop for a Lift

Four more adjustment holes than the standard 8-hole HD Max Black frame. That extra room is what gets you 10 to 12 inches of drop, enough to pull a trailer level behind a lifted truck instead of leaving it nose-high.

Air Ride at Every Drop Height

Most extreme-drop hitches are a solid chunk of steel, which means every frost heave and expansion joint slams straight into your truck and trailer. The Super Drop keeps the airbag working across the entire drop range, so you get the clearance a lifted rig needs and a smooth ride at the same time.

Flip It for Rise When You Need It

Turn the frame over and you get up to 2 inches of rise instead of drop. Handy if you run a cab-over camper or hook to a higher trailer tongue on a stock-height truck.

One Frame, Every HD Max Black Attachment

It takes every HD Max Black ball mount attachment, including combo balls, pintles, clevises, and drawbars. Buy the frame once and swap the attachment as your trailers change, instead of buying a whole new hitch.

The Rigs This Frame Was Made For

If your factory hitch leaves the trailer hanging nose-up or nose-down, you need more drop range than it can give. This frame is how you fix it.

  • Lifted half-ton, 3/4-ton, and 1-ton pickups running 3 to 6 inch lifts
  • Trailers with low front tongues that sit too low behind a taller truck
  • Low-deck equipment haulers, race trailers, and gooseneck-converted bumper-pull trailers
  • Dually trucks that already sit tall from the factory
  • Any rig where a standard 6 to 7 inch drop still leaves the trailer off level
  • F-350, RAM 3500, and dually one-ton trucks (class V/VI receivers) running aftermarket suspension

Super Drop vs Standard HD Max Black 20K

Both ride on the same 20K air ride chassis. Pick the one that matches how much drop your setup actually needs.

Option 1

Standard HD Max Black 20K (8-hole frame)

Gives you up to roughly 7 inches of drop. It is the right call for a stock-height truck pulling a typical bumper-pull trailer, and it costs a bit less. Most stock-height setups start here.

Option 2

HD Max Black Super Drop (12-hole frame)

Gives you up to 12-1/2 inches of drop. Reach for this when the standard frame just cannot get the trailer level, whether that is a lifted truck, a low-tongue trailer, or an odd height mismatch. It runs $50 to $80 more than the standard frame.

Why Getting the Trailer Level Actually Matters

Tow a trailer nose-high and it pulls weight off the trailer's front axle, which is what starts a trailer swaying behind you. Tow it nose-low and you overload that front axle and the trailer dives every time you brake. Either way your tires wear uneven, the ride gets harsh, and your stopping distance gets longer. For most lifted-truck owners, getting the trailer sitting level is the single biggest safety upgrade they can make, and the Super Drop frame is what lets you do it without giving up air ride.

Built and Finished to Take Abuse

The chassis is heavy-duty steel wrapped in a textured matte black powder coat that hides road grime, resists rock chips, and holds its color under UV far better than a gloss finish. Inside is the same multi-ply commercial air bag Shocker runs across the whole HD line. It is covered by Shocker's 60-day satisfaction guarantee, and it is in stock and shipping direct from Canada, so there is no border wait.
