Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.
Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.
Pull 15,000 or 18,000 pounds behind a one-ton and you feel it in your spine. Every frost heave and hard stop punches up through the receiver, and a heavy trailer chucks back and forth until it wears on the truck, the load, and you. The Shocker HD Max Black Air Hitch & Channel Style Pintle Hook drops an air spring between truck and trailer so that jarring gets soaked up before it reaches you. It carries 20,000 lbs of trailer weight and up to 2,000 lbs of tongue weight, the heaviest bumper-pull rating Shocker builds, on a thicker-wall heavy-duty frame sized for F-350, RAM 3500, and dual-rear-wheel one-ton trucks with a 3-inch receiver. The channel-style pintle hook takes a lunette ring for heavy equipment and ag trailers, and it all wears a textured matte-black powder coat, so you never give up capacity for looks or looks for capacity.

How Shocker HD Air Ride Works
20K-Rated Air Spring
A heavy-duty multi-ply rubber air bag carries up to 20,000 lbs of trailer load and still soaks up the road shock that would otherwise beat on your truck and cargo. It uses the same air-ride engineering as the HD Red, finished to match the matte-black frame.
Air You Adjust for the Load
A heavy bumper-pull trailer can swing more than 1,000 lbs between empty and loaded. Add air before a max-weight run and let it back out for the deadhead home. The HD air bag gives you a wider usable pressure range than the 14K, so you can dial it in either way.
Reinforced HD Chassis
The outside keeps the same 8-hole geometry, so every Shocker ball mount still fits, but the steel is thicker-walled with reinforced welds rated for 20K loads. It is finished in textured matte-black powder coat to match.
Rocker-Arm Pivot
Shocker's down-and-back motion rides on a single pivot, with no slides, rollers, or stacked airbags to wear out, even at HD loads. Fewer moving parts under heavy stress means it lasts longer.
Why Buyers Choose HD Max Black
The top of the core line, heavy-duty and premium-finished at once.
- Carries the heaviest bumper-pull load Shocker rates, 20,000 lbs GTW
- Textured matte black hides road scratches better than glossy or red
- Matches the blacked-out packages on Ford, RAM, Chevy, and GMC one-tons
- 3-inch receiver lines up with dual-rear-wheel factory hitches
- Works with all 20+ Shocker ball-mount attachments, black-matched where offered
- You keep the capacity and the looks in one hitch
HD Max Black vs. Max Black 14K, What's Different
Same finish family, different capacity tier:
Heavier Airbag and Walls
The 14K stops where its name says it does. This HD steps up to a 20K-rated air bag and reinforced steel walls that carry 20,000 lbs GTW with 2,000 lbs of tongue weight. Reach for it when your loads climb past 14,000 lbs.
Three-Inch Receiver Option
You can get the HD Max Black with a 3-inch receiver for dual-rear-wheel one-ton trucks, which is something the Max Black 14K does not offer.
Flip It From Drop to Rise
This Shocker HD Max Black Air Hitch & Channel Style Pintle Hook ships set up in a 3″ Drop to 7″ Drop ball-mount configuration. Most Shocker ball mounts flip over, so you can turn drop into rise, and the 8 adjustment holes let you fine-tune coupler height. Getting a heavy bumper-pull trailer sitting level matters more than most people think. If the drop is off, you overload either the front or the rear axle of the trailer, so take the time to dial it in.
Premium Finish on an HD Frame
Underneath, this is the same reinforced HD chassis as the Shocker HD 20K Red. The textured matte-black powder coat is built to resist UV fade, hide the micro-scratches that come from sliding the shank in and out of the receiver, and hold up better than glossy finishes on salt-belt roads and gravel. It is backed by Shocker Hitch's 60-day satisfaction guarantee.
