How Shocker HD Air Ride Works
Air Spring Rated to the Full 20K
The heavy-duty multi-ply rubber air bag carries up to 20,000 lbs of trailer while it soaks up the bumps that would otherwise slam the truck and beat up your cargo. Same air-ride guts as the HD Red, finished to match the matte-black chassis.
Air It Up or Let It Down for the Load
A heavy trailer can swing more than 1,000 lbs between empty and loaded, and a stiff hitch punishes you on the light runs. Pump air in for the max-weight haul and let it back out for the empty return. The HD air bag has a wider usable pressure range than the 14K.
Thicker-Wall HD Chassis
Same external 8-hole geometry, so every Shocker ball mount still fits, but built from thicker-wall steel with reinforced welds rated for 20K loads and finished in textured matte-black powder coat.

The 14K tops out at 14,000 lbs. When your loads climb past that, the HD's 20K-rated air bag and reinforced steel walls carry you up to 20,000 lbs GTW with 2,000 lbs of tongue weight.
Three-Inch Receiver Option
HD Max Black comes in a 3-inch receiver for dual-rear-wheel one-ton trucks, a size the Max Black 14K does not offer.
Flippable Drop / Rise Geometry
This Shocker HD Max Black Air Hitch & Channel Style Pintle Hook ships in a 3″ Drop to 7″ Drop ball-mount configuration. Most Shocker ball mounts flip over, so you can turn drop into rise, and the 8 adjustment holes let you fine-tune coupler height. A heavy bumper-pull trailer is fussy about sitting level. Get the drop wrong and you overload either the front or rear axle of the trailer, so take a minute to dial it in right.
Premium Finish, HD Frame
It is built on the same reinforced HD chassis as the Shocker HD 20K Red.
