Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.
Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.
Pull a heavy trailer behind a bumper-pull hitch and every frost heave, expansion joint, and hard stop slams straight up through the truck, the trailer, and whatever you're hauling. That constant chucking and jarring beats up your rig and wears you out over a long day. The HD Max Black 20K is the top-tier core hitch in the Shocker bumper-pull lineup, and it drops an air spring between your truck and the load to soak that road shock up before it reaches you. It carries 20,000 lbs GTW with up to 2,000 lbs of tongue weight, Shocker's heaviest bumper-pull capacity, on a beefier-wall HD chassis wrapped in a textured matte-black premium powder coat. It fits F-150-class half-ton trucks (and class III/IV receivers) with a 2-inch receiver, and it's the pick for one-ton owners who won't give up capacity to get the finish they want.

How Shocker HD Air Ride Works
The Air Spring Takes the Hit
An HD multi-ply rubber air bag carries up to 20,000 lbs of trailer load while soaking up the road shock before it reaches your truck and your cargo. It's the same engineering as the HD Red, finished to match the matte-black chassis.
Air Up Loaded, Bleed Down Empty
A heavy bumper-pull trailer can swing 1,000+ lbs between empty and full. Add air for a max-weight run, bleed it back down for the deadhead home. The HD airbag has a wider usable pressure range than the 14K.
A Frame Built for the Weight
It keeps the same external 8-hole geometry, so every Shocker ball mount still fits, but adds thicker wall steel and reinforced welds rated for 20K loads, all under a textured matte-black powder coat.
One Simple Pivot
Shocker's down-and-back motion runs on a single pivot, with no slides, rollers, or stacked airbags even at HD loads. Fewer moving parts under heavy stress means it lasts longer.
Why Buyers Choose HD Max Black
The top-tier core line, both heavy-duty and premium in finish.
- Maximum bumper-pull capacity at 20,000 lbs GTW
- Textured matte black hides scratches better than glossy or red finishes
- Matches blacked-out OEM packages on Ford, RAM, Chevy, and GMC one-tons
- Available 3-inch receiver matches dual-rear-wheel truck factory hitches
- Works with the same 20+ Shocker ball-mount attachments, black-matched where offered
- No trade-off between capacity and looks
HD Max Black vs. Max Black 14K: What's Different
Same finish family, different capacity tier:
Heavier Airbag and Walls
The 20K-rated HD airbag and reinforced steel walls take this hitch up to 20,000 lbs GTW with 2,000 lbs of tongue weight. It's the one to grab when your loads climb past what the 14K handles.
A 3-Inch Receiver Option
HD Max Black comes in a 3-inch receiver built for dual-rear-wheel one-ton trucks, a configuration the Max Black 14K doesn't offer.
Flip It to Level Your Trailer
This Shocker HD Max Black Air Hitch & Pintle Hook w/Mount ships set up for a 2.5" Rise to 6.5″ Drop. A trailer that rides nose-high or nose-low throws its weight onto the wrong axle and chews up tires and bearings early. Most Shocker ball mounts are reversible, so you can flip the mount to turn drop into rise, or work the 8 adjustment holes to fine-tune coupler height. Heavy bumper-pull trailers feel a mismatched drop the most, since it overloads either the front or rear axle of the trailer, so take the time to dial it in.
Premium Finish on an HD Frame
It's built on the same reinforced HD chassis as the Shocker HD 20K Red. The textured matte-black powder coat is made to resist UV fade, hide the micro-scratches you pick up sliding the shank in and out of the receiver, and outlast glossy finishes on salt-belt roads and gravel. Backed by Shocker Hitch's 60-day satisfaction guarantee.
