Provide Comfort
With a smoother ride! Travel a lot on concrete highways? No more jarring every time you cross a section divider. Your Shocker air hitch absorbs the thumps and bumps.
Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.
Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.
Pull a heavy trailer behind a one-ton and you feel every frost heave and hard stop come straight through the receiver. The truck jerks, the load chucks back and forth, and a long day of that wears on the truck, the trailer, and whatever you are hauling. The Shocker HD Max Black Air Hitch & Chrome Combo Ball Mount & Sway Bar Tabs puts an air spring between your truck and the trailer to soak up that shock. It is the heaviest hitch in the Shocker bumper-pull line, rated for 20,000 lbs of trailer and up to 2,000 lbs on the tongue, so it hauls just about the biggest legal bumper-pull trailer you can hook to an F-350, RAM 3500, or dual-rear-wheel one-ton. It drops into a 3-inch receiver (class V/VI), and the whole thing wears a textured matte-black powder coat that looks right on a blacked-out truck. If you will not give up capacity or finish, this is the one.

How Shocker HD Air Ride Works
Air Spring Rated to 20,000 lbs
A heavy-duty multi-ply rubber air bag carries up to 20,000 lbs of trailer and still soaks up the jolts before they reach the truck and your cargo. It is the same air-ride guts as the HD Red, just finished to match the matte-black frame.
Set It for the Load You Are Pulling
A heavy trailer can swing more than 1,000 lbs between empty and loaded. Add air for the full run, let some out when you are deadheading home, and the ride stays right either way. The HD air bag has a wider usable pressure range than the 14K.
Reinforced HD Frame
It keeps the same 8-hole face so every Shocker ball mount still bolts on, but the steel is thicker-walled and the welds are reinforced to carry 20K loads. All of it wears the textured matte-black powder coat.
Single-Pivot Rocker Arm
The down-and-back motion works off one pivot, with no slides, rollers, or stacked airbags, even at these heavy loads. Fewer parts moving under stress means less to wear out and a longer service life.
Why Buyers Choose HD Max Black
The top of the core line, both heavy-duty and premium-finished.
- Shocker's top bumper-pull capacity at 20,000 lbs
- Textured matte black hides scratches better than glossy or red finishes
- Matches blacked-out factory trim on Ford, RAM, Chevy, and GMC one-tons
- 3-inch receiver matches dual-rear-wheel truck factory hitches
- Works with the same 20-plus Shocker ball-mount attachments, black-matched where offered
- No trade-off between capacity and looks
HD Max Black vs. Max Black 14K, What Changes
Same finish family, a bigger capacity tier:
Heavier Air Bag and Thicker Walls
The 20K-rated HD air bag and reinforced steel walls take you up to 20,000 lbs of trailer with 2,000 lbs on the tongue. Reach for this one when your loads run past what the 14K handles.
3-Inch Receiver for One-Tons
HD Max Black comes in a 3-inch receiver for dual-rear-wheel one-ton trucks, a size the Max Black 14K does not offer.
Flip It for Drop or Rise
This kit ships set up for 1/2" to 4-1/2" of drop. Most Shocker ball mounts flip over, so you can turn that drop into rise, and the 8 adjustment holes let you fine-tune the coupler height. A heavy bumper-pull trailer wants to sit dead level. Get the drop wrong and you overload either the front or the rear trailer axle, so take a minute to dial it in.
Premium Finish on an HD Frame
It is built on the same reinforced HD frame as the Shocker HD 20K Red. The textured matte-black powder coat is made to fight UV fade, hide the micro-scratches you get sliding it in and out of the receiver, and hold up better than a glossy finish on salt-belt highways and gravel roads. Backed by Shocker Hitch's 60-day satisfaction guarantee.
