How the Shocker HD Air Ride Works
20K-Rated Air Spring
The HD multi-ply rubber air bag carries up to 20,000 lbs of trailer behind you and still softens the road shock that would otherwise hammer the truck and your cargo. It runs the same air-ride engineering as the HD Red, finished to match the matte-black chassis.
Adjustable for Heavy Loads
A heavy trailer can swing 1,000+ lbs between empty and full, so a setting that feels right loaded rides harsh running back empty. Add air for the max-weight haul, release it for the deadhead. The HD airbag gives you a wider usable pressure range than the 14K.
Reinforced HD Chassis
It keeps the same external 8-hole geometry, so every Shocker ball mount still fits, and adds thicker-wall steel with reinforced welds rated for 20K loadings. All of it wears the textured matte-black powder coat.
Rocker-Arm Pivot
Shocker's down-and-back motion rides on a single pivot, with no slides, rollers, or stacked airbags, even under HD loads. Fewer moving parts taking the strain means less to wear out and a longer service life.

Three-Inch Receiver Option
HD Max Black comes in a 3-inch receiver for dual-rear-wheel one-ton trucks, a size the Max Black 14K doesn't offer.
Flippable Drop / Rise Geometry
This Shocker HD Max Black Air Hitch & Chrome Combo Ball Mount ships set up as a 1/2" to 4-1/2" Drop ball mount. Most Shocker ball mounts are reversible, so you can flip the mount to turn drop into rise, or use the 8 adjustment holes to fine-tune coupler height. A heavy bumper-pull trailer is fussy about sitting level. Run it nose-high or nose-low and you overload either the front or rear axle of the trailer, so take the time to dial it in.
Premium Finish on an HD Frame
It's built on the same reinforced HD chassis as the Shocker HD 20K Red. The textured matte-black powder coat holds its color against UV fade and hides the micro-scratches that come from sliding the shank in and out of the receiver.
