Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.
Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.
Pull a heavy trailer and you feel every seam in the road come straight up through the truck. The jarring, the chucking back and forth, the pounding that wears on your rig and everything riding behind it. The HD Max Black 20K puts an air spring between your truck and that load so it stops beating you up. It's the top-tier core hitch in the Shocker bumper-pull lineup: heavy-duty 20,000-lb capacity on a beefier-wall HD frame, wrapped in a textured matte-black premium powder coat. Drop it into a 2-inch receiver on an F-150-class half-ton (class III/IV) and it hauls up to 20,000 lbs GTW with as much as 2,000 lbs riding on the ball, all while smoothing out the ride for the truck and the cargo. It's built for the owner who won't give up capacity to get the finish, or the finish to get the capacity.

How Shocker HD Air Ride Works
20K-Rated Air Spring
The HD multi-ply rubber air bag carries up to 20,000 lbs of trailer while it soaks up the pounding before it reaches the truck and your cargo. Same air-ride guts as the HD Red, just finished to match the matte-black frame.
Set It for the Load You've Got
A big bumper-pull trailer can swing more than 1,000 lbs between empty and loaded. Air it up for a heavy run, bleed it back down for the deadhead home. The HD airbag has a wider usable pressure range than the 14K, so it covers more of that swing.
Reinforced HD Frame
Same 8-hole face as every Shocker frame, so all Shocker ball mounts still bolt right on, but built with thicker-wall steel and reinforced welds rated for 20K loads, and finished in textured matte-black powder coat.
One Simple Pivot
Shocker's down-and-back motion rides on a single pivot. No slides, no rollers, no stacked airbags, even at HD weights. Fewer parts moving under that kind of stress means it holds up longer.
Why Buyers Choose HD Max Black
The top-tier core line, heavy-duty capacity and premium finish in one.
- The most bumper-pull capacity Shocker makes, 20,000 lbs GTW
- Textured matte black hides scratches better than glossy or red finishes
- Matches blacked-out factory packages on Ford, RAM, Chevy, and GMC one-tons
- A 3-inch receiver option to match dual-rear-wheel factory hitches
- Works with the same 20+ Shocker ball mounts, black-matched where offered
- No trade-off between capacity and looks
HD Max Black vs. Max Black 14K: What's Different
Same finish family, a bigger capacity tier:
Bigger Airbag, Thicker Walls
The 20K-rated HD airbag and reinforced steel walls take you all the way to 20,000 lbs GTW with 2,000 lbs of tongue weight. That's the frame to reach for once your loads climb past 14,000 lbs.
3-Inch Receiver Option
HD Max Black comes in a 3-inch receiver for dual-rear-wheel one-ton trucks, a size the Max Black 14K doesn't offer.
Flip It for Drop or Rise
This one ships set up as a 1/2" to 4-1/2" drop ball mount. Most Shocker ball mounts flip over, so you can turn that drop into a rise, and the 8 adjustment holes let you fine-tune coupler height on top of that. Getting a heavy bumper-pull trailer sitting level really matters. If the drop is off, you end up overloading either the front or the rear axle of the trailer, so take the time to dial it in.
Premium Finish on an HD Frame
It's built on the same reinforced HD frame as the Shocker HD 20K Red. The textured matte-black powder coat is made to hold its color in the sun, hide the micro-scratches you get sliding it in and out of the receiver, and outlast a glossy finish on salt-belt roads and gravel. Backed by Shocker Hitch's 60-day satisfaction guarantee.
