Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.
Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.
Hook a heavy trailer to a one-ton and you feel every frost heave and hard stop come straight up through the truck. That constant chucking wears on the frame, the trailer, and whatever you are hauling, and it turns a long day behind the wheel into a rough one. The HD Max Black 20K sits at the top of the Shocker bumper-pull line and is built to take that hit for you. An HD air spring soaks up the jolt so the ride stays smooth, and it hauls the heaviest legal bumper-pull trailer you can put behind an F-350, RAM 3500, or dual-rear-wheel one-ton truck: 20,000 lbs of trailer with up to 2,000 lbs on the tongue. The beefier-wall HD chassis and 3-inch receiver are sized for class V/VI trucks, and the whole thing wears a textured matte-black premium powder coat, so you get the capacity and the finish without giving up one for the other.

- Sized for a 3-inch receiver so it drops into 3-inch one-ton trucks
- Add or release air pressure to set ride height for a full load or an empty run

How Shocker HD Air Ride Works
The Air Spring Takes The Hit
A heavy-duty multi-ply rubber air bag carries up to 20,000 lbs of trailer and soaks up the jolts before they reach the truck and your cargo. It is the same air-ride engineering as the HD Red, finished to match the matte-black chassis.
Dial It In For The Load
A heavy bumper-pull trailer can swing 1,000-plus lbs between empty and full. Pump in air for a max-weight run, bleed it off for the deadhead home. The HD air bag has a wider usable pressure range than the 14K, so you have more room to tune it.
Built To Carry The Weight
It keeps the same external 8-hole geometry, so every Shocker ball mount still fits, but the steel is thicker-walled and the welds are reinforced for 20K loads, all wrapped in textured matte-black powder coat.
One Simple Pivot
Shocker's down-and-back motion runs on a single rocker-arm pivot, with no slides, rollers, or stacked airbags to wear out, even at HD loadings. Fewer moving parts under that kind of stress means a longer service life.
Why Buyers Choose HD Max Black
The top of the core line: heavy-duty capacity and a premium finish in one hitch.
- The most bumper-pull capacity Shocker offers, 20,000 lbs GTW
- Textured matte black hides scratches better than a glossy or red finish
- Matches the blacked-out trim packages on Ford, RAM, Chevy, and GMC one-tons
- A 3-inch receiver that matches dual-rear-wheel truck factory hitches
- Works with the same 20-plus Shocker ball mounts, black-matched where offered
- No trade-off between capacity and how it looks
HD Max Black vs. Max Black 14K: What Is Different
Same finish family, a bigger capacity tier:
Bigger Air Bag, Thicker Walls
A 20K-rated HD air bag and reinforced steel walls take you from the 14K's 14,000 lbs up to a full 20,000 lbs GTW with 2,000 lbs on the tongue. This is the one to grab when your loads run past 14,000 lbs.
A 3-Inch Receiver Option
The HD Max Black comes in a 3-inch receiver for dual-rear-wheel one-ton trucks, a setup the Max Black 14K does not offer.
Flip It For Drop Or Rise
This Shocker HD Max Black Air Hitch & Raised Ball Mount w/ 2" Ball & Sway Bar Tabs ships set up for 2" Rise to 2" Drop. Most Shocker ball mounts flip over, so you can turn drop into rise, and the 8 adjustment holes let you fine-tune coupler height. A heavy bumper-pull trailer needs to sit level. Run it nose-high or nose-low and you overload either the front or rear axle of the trailer, so take the time to dial it in carefully.
Premium Finish On An HD Frame
It is built on the same reinforced HD chassis as the Shocker HD 20K Red. The textured matte-black powder coat is made to fight UV fade, hide the micro-scratches you get sliding it in and out of the receiver, and outlast a glossy finish through salt-belt winters and gravel roads. Backed by Shocker Hitch's 60-day satisfaction guarantee.
