How Shocker HD Air Ride Works
Air Spring Rated to the Full 20,000 lbs
A heavy-duty multi-ply rubber air bag carries the full 20,000 lbs of trailer and still cushions the hits so they don't hammer your truck or your cargo. It's the same air-ride engineering as the HD Red, just finished to match the matte-black chassis.
Dial It In, Loaded or Empty
A heavy trailer can swing more than 1,000 lbs between empty and full, and a rigid hitch can't tell the difference. Add air for a max-weight run, bleed some off for the deadhead home. The HD air bag has a wider usable pressure range than the 14K, so you've got room to tune it.
Beefed-Up HD Frame
Thicker-wall steel and reinforced welds carry the 20K loads without giving, while the external 8-hole geometry stays the same so every Shocker ball mount still fits. All of it wears the textured matte-black powder coat.

Heavier Airbag and Thicker Walls
The Max Black 14K tops out at 14,000 lbs. This HD steps up to a 20K-rated air bag and reinforced steel walls, so it handles 20,000 lbs GTW with 2,000 lbs on the tongue. It's the one to grab when your loads run past what the 14K can carry.
Fits the 3-Inch Receiver
The HD Max Black comes in a 3-inch receiver for dual-rear-wheel one-ton trucks, a setup the Max Black 14K doesn't offer.
Flip It for Drop or Rise
This hitch ships set up as 2 inch rise to 2 inch drop. Most Shocker ball mounts are reversible, so you can flip the mount to turn drop into rise, and the 8 adjustment holes let you fine-tune coupler height. Getting a heavy trailer to sit level matters more than most people realize. Ride nose-high or nose-low and you overload either the front or rear axle of the trailer, so take the time to dial it in.
