How Shocker HD Air Ride Works
20K-Rated Air Spring
The HD multi-ply rubber air bag carries up to 20,000 lbs of trailer load and soaks up road shock before it ever reaches your truck and cargo. Same air-ride engineering as the HD Red, just finished to match the matte-black chassis.
Adjustable for Heavy Loads
A heavy bumper-pull load can swing 1,000+ lbs between empty and full. Pump air in for the max-weight run, bleed it off for the deadhead home, and the ride stays settled either way. The HD airbag has a wider usable pressure range than the 14K.
Reinforced HD Chassis
Same external 8-hole geometry means every Shocker ball mount still bolts right on, but the steel is thicker-walled and the welds are reinforced for 20K loads. All of it wears the textured matte-black powder coat.
Rocker-Arm Pivot

The 14K does its job right up to where its airbag maxes out. Step up to the HD's 20K-rated airbag and reinforced steel walls and you're rated for 20,000 lbs GTW with 2,000 lbs of tongue weight. This is the one to grab when your loads climb past what the 14K handles.
Three-Inch Receiver Option
HD Max Black comes in a 3-inch receiver for dual-rear-wheel one-ton trucks, a size the Max Black 14K doesn't offer.
Flip the Mount for Drop or Rise
This Shocker HD Max Black Air Hitch & Raised Ball Mount w/ 2" Ball ships in a 2" Rise to 2" Drop ball-mount setup. Most Shocker ball mounts are reversible, so you can flip the mount to turn drop into rise, or work the 8 adjustment holes to fine-tune your coupler height. Getting a heavy bumper-pull trailer to sit level really matters. If the drop is off, you overload either the front or the rear axle of the trailer, so take the time to dial it in.
