I've ridden in the trailer myself — the difference in shock is huge. Our horses come off so much more relaxed, and there's less wear on the truck and trailer too.

Smother Safer Towing

Air ride towing technology with a heavy-duty built-in air ride system to cushion the ride & absorb the road shock.

Matte Black Finish

Max Black™ Textured Matte Black Premium Powder-Coat Finish on Base Frame.

Improves Safety

By giving you improved control of your tow vehicle and trailer. The air bag receiver hitch system allows for better control of your pickup and the trailer it is towing.

Built-in HD Air Ride System

Absorbs road shock, bumps, bangs, tugs & jerks and creates a smooth ride & reduces the tendency to trailer sway. Dual rubber bump cushions also offer additional HD performance.

Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.

Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.

You back up to hitch and the trailer tongue sits way below your receiver, so the trailer rides nose-high, wanders in a crosswind, and pounds you on every hard stop. That is what happens when your truck sits high and the trailer sits low, and a standard hitch just cannot reach far enough down to level it out. The Shocker HD Max Black Super Drop closes that gap. The 12-hole Super Drop frame reaches up to 12-1/2 inches of drop and keeps the same 20K air ride cushion working the whole way down, so a lifted truck and a low trailer tow flat and easy. This Shocker HD Max Black Super Drop Air Hitch Base Frame Complete w/ Pins (No Ball Mount) is rated at 20,000 lbs GTW, slides into a 3-inch receiver, and gives you 12 Adjustment Holes to dial in a level tow on lifted rigs and low-deck trailers.

Key Highlights

  • Reaches up to 12-1/2 inches of drop, the deepest in the HD Max Black family, so even a big lift can tow level
  • Hauls up to 20,000 lbs GTW with full air ride, enough for the heaviest trailer behind a one-ton
  • 12-hole Super Drop frame lets you fine-tune the height until the trailer sits flat
  • Textured matte black powder coat shrugs off rock chips, rust, and sun fade
  • 3-inch shank drops into F-350, RAM 3500, and dually one-ton trucks (class V/VI receivers)
  • Flip the frame for added rise when your setup calls for it
  • Same airbag and same chassis strength as the standard HD Max Black 20K
  • Built for lifted trucks, low-tongue gooseneck-converted trailers, and low-deck haulers

Why the Super Drop Frame

Four More Holes, Way More Drop

You get four more adjustment holes than the standard 8-hole HD Max Black frame. Those extra holes are what let you reach 10 to 12 inches of drop and get a lifted truck sitting level.

Air Ride at Every Drop Setting

Most deep-drop hitches are solid steel, so they beat you and your trailer up on rough road. The Super Drop keeps the airbag working across the entire drop range, so you get the clearance without giving up the smooth ride.

Flip the Frame for Rise

Turn the frame over and you pick up as much as 2 inches of rise. Handy for a cab-over camper or a taller trailer tongue on a stock-height truck.

Works With Every HD Max Black Attachment

It takes every HD Max Black ball mount attachment, including combo balls, pintles, clevises, and drawbars. Buy the frame once and swap attachments as your trailers change.

Built For These Trucks and Trailers

If your factory hitch leaves the trailer pointing nose-up or nose-down, you need more drop range, and this frame gives it to you.

  • Lifted half-ton, 3/4-ton, and 1-ton pickups running 3 to 6 inch lifts
  • Trailers with low front tongues that ride nose-up behind a stock-height truck
  • Low-deck equipment haulers, race trailers, and gooseneck-converted bumper-pull trailers
  • Dually trucks that sit tall straight from the factory
  • Any rig where a standard 6 to 7 inch drop still cannot level the trailer
  • F-350, RAM 3500, and dually one-ton trucks (class V/VI receivers) running aftermarket suspension

Super Drop vs Standard HD Max Black 20K

Both ride on the same 20K air ride chassis. Pick based on how much drop your setup really needs.

Option 1

Standard HD Max Black 20K (8-hole frame)

Reaches about 7 inches of drop. That is the right call for a stock-height truck pulling a typical bumper-pull trailer, and it costs a little less.

Option 2

HD Max Black Super Drop (12-hole frame)

Reaches up to 12-1/2 inches of drop. Pick this one when the standard frame cannot get the trailer level, whether that is a lifted truck, a low-tongue trailer, or an odd height mismatch. It runs about $50 to $80 more than the standard frame.

Why Getting the Trailer Level Matters So Much

When a trailer tows nose-high, weight comes off its front axle and the whole thing starts to sway behind you. When it tows nose-low, the front axle gets overloaded and the trailer dives every time you hit the brakes. Either way you burn through tires faster, the ride gets rough, and your stopping distance grows. For most lifted-truck owners, getting the trailer level is the single biggest safety upgrade they can make, and the Super Drop frame is what makes it possible without giving up air ride.

Built and Finished for the Long Haul

It starts with a heavy-duty steel chassis wrapped in a textured matte black powder coat that hides road grime, takes rock chips without flaking, and holds up to sun better than a gloss finish. Inside is the same multi-ply commercial air bag Shocker runs across the whole HD line. It is covered by Shocker's 60-day satisfaction guarantee, and it is in stock and shipping from Canada, so there is no border wait.
