Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.
Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.
Hitch up something heavy on a rough highway and you feel every frost heave and hard stop travel straight through the ball and into the truck. The trailer chucks, the cargo takes a beating, and a long day leaves you wrung out. The HD Max Black 20K is the heaviest core hitch in the Shocker bumper-pull lineup, built to soak up that punishment. It carries 20,000 lbs of trailer (GTW) with up to 2,000 lbs of tongue weight on a beefier-wall HD chassis, so it hauls the heaviest legal bumper-pull trailer you'll put behind a half-ton or one-ton truck. It drops into a 2-inch receiver on F-150-class half-tons (and class III/IV receivers), and the whole frame wears a textured matte-black premium powder coat for owners who want the capacity and the blacked-out look in one piece. Ships complete with pins, no ball mount.

How Shocker HD Air Ride Works
20K-Rated Air Spring
A heavy-duty multi-ply rubber air bag carries up to 20,000 lbs of trailer while soaking up the jolts that used to hammer the truck and your cargo. Same proven engineering as the HD Red, finished to match the matte-black frame.
Adjustable for Heavy Loads
A heavy bumper-pull trailer can swing 1,000+ lbs between empty and loaded. Add air for the max-weight run, bleed it back off for the deadhead home. The HD air bag has a wider usable pressure range than the 14K, so it keeps you level across bigger swings.
Reinforced HD Chassis
Same external 8-hole geometry, so every Shocker ball mount still fits, but built from thicker-wall steel with reinforced welds rated for 20K loads. Wrapped in a textured matte-black powder coat.
Rocker-Arm Pivot
Shocker's down-and-back cushioning rides on one pivot, no slides, rollers, or stacked airbags, even at HD loads. Fewer moving parts under heavy stress means less to wear out and a longer service life.
Why Buyers Choose HD Max Black
The top of the core line, heavy-duty capacity and a premium finish together.
- The heaviest bumper-pull capacity Shocker offers, 20,000 lbs GTW
- Textured matte black hides scratches better than glossy or red finishes
- Matches blacked-out factory packages on Ford, RAM, Chevy, and GMC one-tons
- 3-inch receiver option matches the factory hitch on dually trucks
- Works with the same 20+ Shocker ball mounts, black-matched where offered
- No trade-off between capacity and looks
HD Max Black vs. Max Black 14K
Same finish family, a step up in capacity:
Heavier Airbag and Walls
A 20K-rated HD air bag and reinforced steel walls take you past what the 14K can carry, up to 20,000 lbs GTW with 2,000 lbs of tongue weight. This is the one to buy when your loads climb past 14K.
Three-Inch Receiver Option
HD Max Black comes in a 3-inch receiver for dual-rear-wheel one-ton trucks, a size the Max Black 14K doesn't offer.
Flippable Drop / Rise Geometry
This base frame is built around Shocker's 8 adjustment hole ball-mount geometry. Most Shocker ball mounts are reversible, so you can flip the mount to turn a drop into a rise, or work through the 8 adjustment holes to fine-tune coupler height. Heavy bumper-pull trailers are picky about sitting level. A mismatched drop shoves too much weight onto the front or rear axle of the trailer, so take the time to dial it in.
Premium Finish, HD Frame
Underneath, this is the same reinforced HD chassis as the Shocker HD 20K Red. The textured matte-black powder coat is built to resist UV fade, hide the micro-scratches you get sliding it in and out of the receiver, and outlast glossy finishes on salt-belt roads and gravel. In stock in Canada and backed by Shocker Hitch's 60-day satisfaction guarantee.
