I've ridden in the trailer myself — the difference in shock is huge. Our horses come off so much more relaxed, and there's less wear on the truck and trailer too.

Air ride technology

Built in air ride system, cushions the ride & absorbing the road shock

Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.

Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.

Hook a heavy trailer to a solid steel ball mount and every frost heave, expansion joint, and hard stop punches straight up through the receiver into your truck, then back down into the trailer and your cargo. At max weight that pounding wears on your driveline and welds and beats you up over a long day. The Shocker HD Air Hitch puts an air spring between the truck and trailer to soak it up. It carries 20,000 lbs of trailer (GTW) and up to 2,000 lbs on the tongue, about the heaviest legal bumper-pull load you can put behind a one-ton, on a beefier-wall version of Shocker's 8-hole chassis with an upgraded HD-rated airbag. It slides into the 2-1/2-inch receiver on an F-250 / RAM 2500-class three-quarter-ton truck (class V receiver) and ships in red with a 2-inch ball and sway bar tabs.

How Shocker HD Air Ride Works

20K-Rated Air Spring

On rough pavement a rigid mount has nothing to give, so the shock goes straight into your truck and trailer. This HD air bag uses heavier multi-ply rubber than the 14K version and carries up to 20,000 lbs of trailer while still cushioning the road shock that hammers your rig and cargo.

Adjustable for Heavy Loads

A heavy bumper-pull trailer can swing 1,000 lbs or more between empty and loaded, and one air setting won't ride right for both. Add air for a max-weight run, bleed it off for the deadhead home. The HD airbag has a wider usable pressure range than the 14K, so you can tune it across that whole spread.

Reinforced 8-Hole Chassis

It keeps the same outside shape as the Original line, so every Shocker ball mount still fits, but the walls are thicker steel and the welds are reinforced to carry the full 20K load. You get the same attachment options with the steel to back the heavier weight.

Rocker-Arm Pivot

Shocker's down-and-back motion runs on a single pivot, with no slides, rollers, or stacked airbags to wear out, even at HD loads. Fewer moving parts under that kind of stress means less to fail and a longer life out on the road.

Who Buys the HD 20K

Built for one-ton trucks and the heaviest legal bumper-pull setups on the road.

  • One-ton owners (F-350, RAM 3500, Silverado 3500) towing near their max rating
  • Livestock haulers pulling 30+ ft bumper-pull stock trailers
  • Equipment and skid-steer guys running 16k+ tilt-deck trailers
  • Big enclosed cargo and car haulers loaded up to 20,000 lbs
  • Dual-rear-wheel trucks with a 3-inch receiver that need a matched HD hitch
  • Anyone bottoming out an Original 14K under heavy tongue weight

What the HD Adds Over the Original 14K

Same chassis shape, same attachment lineup, with three upgrades that count once the load gets heavy:

Option 1

Heavier Airbag

The multi-ply rubber bag is rated for the full 20K GTW and works across a wider pressure range, so it carries heavier tongue weight without bottoming out and slamming the frame.

Option 2

Beefier Walls + Welds

Thicker steel and a reinforced weld pattern where the stress concentrates. That's what takes tongue weight up to 2,000 lbs, versus 1,400 lbs on the Original 14K.

Flippable Drop / Rise Geometry

This kit ships set up as a 4-1/2" to 8-1/2" Drop ball mount. Most Shocker ball mounts flip over, so you can turn that drop into a rise, and the 8 adjustment holes let you fine-tune coupler height in between. Get it right, because a heavy bumper-pull trailer rides hard when it isn't level. A mismatched drop leaves the trailer nose-high or nose-low and dumps the weight onto the front or rear axle, so take a minute and dial it in.

Built for Maximum Bumper-Pull Loads

This one is built to live under the heaviest bumper-pull loads. Reinforced heavy-wall steel carries the weight, and Shocker's impact-resistant safety-red powder coat takes the chips and weather that come with real work. It's in stock and ships direct from Canada, so there's no border wait. If the HD air bag ever needs service, it swaps out in minutes using the same simple Schrader-style fitting as the 14K, and the whole thing is backed by Shocker Hitch's 60-day satisfaction guarantee.
