How Shocker HD Air Ride Works
20K-Rated Air Spring
The HD air bag uses more plies of rubber than the 14K version, so it carries up to 20,000 lbs of trailer and still cushions the jolts before they reach your truck and your cargo.
Adjustable for Heavy Loads
A heavy trailer can swing more than 1,000 lbs between empty and loaded. Pump in air for a max-weight run, let some out for the deadhead home. The HD airbag has a wider usable pressure range than the 14K, so it keeps up either way.
Reinforced 8-Hole Chassis
It keeps the same outside shape as the Original line, so every Shocker ball mount still fits, but the wall steel is thicker and the welds are reinforced to carry the 20K loads.
Rocker-Arm Pivot
Shocker's down-and-back motion runs on one simple pivot, with no slides, rollers, or stacked airbags, even at HD weights. Fewer moving parts under that kind of stress means it lasts longer.

Heavier Airbag
The multi-ply rubber bag is rated for the full 20K GTW and has a wider usable pressure range, so it carries heavier tongue weight without bottoming out.
Beefier Walls + Welds
Thicker steel and a reinforced weld pattern at the high-stress points push the tongue-weight rating to 2,000 lbs, up from 1,400 lbs on the Original 14K.
Flip It for Drop or Rise
This kit ships set up as a 4-1/2" to 8-1/2" drop ball mount. Most Shocker ball mounts are reversible, so you can flip the mount to turn drop into rise, or use the 8 adjustment holes to fine-tune coupler height. A heavy bumper-pull trailer rides best dead level. If the drop is off, one trailer axle carries more than its share, so take the time to get it right.
