I've ridden in the trailer myself — the difference in shock is huge. Our horses come off so much more relaxed, and there's less wear on the truck and trailer too.

Improves Safety

By giving you improved control of your tow vehicle and trailer. The air ride suspension receiver hitch system allows for better control of your pickup and the trailer it is towing.

Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.

Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.

Behind a heavy bumper-pull load, every frost heave and hard stop drives straight through the ball, into your truck's frame, and back into whatever you're hauling. Your teeth rattle, the trailer chucks, and the wear stacks up on both rigs. The Shocker HD Air Hitch is built to soak all of that up. It's the heavy-duty 20K red-finish flagship of the Shocker bumper-pull lineup, and it pulls the heaviest legal bumper-pull trailer you'll put behind a one-ton: 20,000 lbs GTW with up to 2,000 lbs on the tongue. It fits F-150-class half-ton trucks (and class III/IV receivers) with a 2-inch receiver, riding on a beefier-wall version of Shocker's signature 8-hole chassis with an upgraded HD-rated airbag that takes the jolt so your driveline and your cargo don't.

How the HD Air Ride Soaks Up the Road

A 20K-Rated Air Spring

The HD air bag uses heavier multi-ply rubber than the 14K version, with a higher ply count. It carries up to 20,000 lbs of trailer behind you and still cushions the road shock so your truck and cargo don't feel every bump.

Air Up Loaded, Air Down Empty

A heavy bumper-pull trailer can swing 1,000+ lbs between empty and full. Add air for the loaded run, bleed it off on the deadhead home. The HD airbag gives you a wider usable pressure range than the 14K to work with.

A Reinforced 8-Hole Chassis

It keeps the same outside geometry as the Original line, so every Shocker ball mount still fits. Underneath, it runs thicker-wall steel and reinforced welds rated for the full 20K load.

A Simple Rocker-Arm Pivot

Shocker's down-and-back motion runs on a single pivot, with no slides, rollers, or stacked airbags, even at HD loads. Fewer moving parts under that kind of stress means it lasts longer.

Who Buys the HD 20K

Built for one-ton trucks and the heaviest legal bumper-pull combinations you can put behind them.

  • F-350, RAM 3500, and Silverado 3500 owners towing near their max trailer ratings
  • Livestock haulers pulling 30+ ft gooseneck-equivalent bumper-pull stock trailers
  • Equipment and skid-steer haulers running 16k+ tilt-deck trailers
  • Big enclosed cargo trailers and car haulers up to 20,000 lbs
  • Dual-rear-wheel trucks with a three-inch receiver that need a matched HD hitch
  • Anyone whose Original 14K is bottoming out under heavy tongue weight

HD vs. Original: What's Different

Same chassis silhouette, same attachment ecosystem, with three meaningful upgrades:

Option 1

A Heavier Airbag

A multi-ply rubber bag rated for the full 20K GTW, with a wider usable pressure range. It handles heavier tongue weight without bottoming out on you.

Option 2

Beefier Walls and Welds

Thicker steel and a reinforced weld pattern at the high-stress points. That's what takes it to 2,000 lbs of tongue weight, versus 1,400 lbs on the Original 14K.

Flip It for Drop or Rise

This Shocker HD Air Hitch & Chrome Combo Ball Mount ships set up for 1/2" to 4-1/2" of drop. Most Shocker ball mounts are reversible, so you can flip the mount to turn that drop into rise, or use the 8 adjustment holes to fine-tune your coupler height. Heavy bumper-pull trailers are picky about sitting level. A mismatched drop dumps too much weight onto either the front or rear axle of the trailer, so take the time to dial it in right.

Built for the Heaviest Loads You'll Pull

This is reinforced heavy-wall steel under Shocker's signature impact-resistant safety-red powder coat, in stock and shipping direct from Canada with no border wait. When the HD air bag eventually wears, it's field-replaceable in minutes using the same simple Schrader-style fitting as the 14K. It's all backed by Shocker Hitch's 60-day satisfaction guarantee.
