I've ridden in the trailer myself — the difference in shock is huge. Our horses come off so much more relaxed, and there's less wear on the truck and trailer too.

Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.

Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.

Drag a loaded dump trailer or skid steer hauler behind a solid ball mount and every frost heave, expansion joint, and hard stop slams straight up through the truck and into your back. The Shocker Impact Max is the heavy-duty cushion hitch that soaks up that punishment. Two sealed rubber bump cushions compress and rebound to pull the jolt out of the tow, so the ride settles down for you, your truck, and whatever you are pulling. It carries 20,000 lbs of trailer with up to 2,000 lbs riding on the tongue, enough to haul the heaviest load you will put behind a 1-ton. It drops into a 2-inch receiver and adjusts from 1" of rise to 6-1/2" of drop so your trailer sits level. Same proven cushion design as the Impact Cushion 14K, built on the heavier 20K chassis and finished in matte black powder coat. There is no air pressure to set and nothing to maintain.

Key Highlights

  • Hauls up to 20,000 lbs of trailer with 2,000 lbs on the tongue, enough for the heaviest loads behind a 1-ton
  • Sealed dual rubber cushions pull the jolt out of the ride with no air pressure to set and nothing to maintain
  • Matte black powder coat hides road grime, resists chips, and matches a blacked-out truck
  • 2-inch shank drops into class III and IV receivers, fitting everything from F-150-class half-tons on up
  • 7-hole adjustable frame flips over for more drop or more rise to sit your trailer level
  • Uses the same ball mount attachments as the HD Max Black lineup, so a mixed fleet shares one set
  • Roughly 30 to 40% cheaper than the HD Max Black 20K air-ride version
  • Built for 1-ton pickups and dual-rear-wheel trucks working right at the 20K limit

Why a 20K Cushion Hitch

Capacity a 1-Ton Actually Needs

The 14K Impact Cushion handles half-tons and plenty of 3/4-tons just fine. Once you hook up a skid steer, a loaded dump trailer, or a heavy equipment hauler behind a 1-ton, you want the heavier 20K chassis under you. It runs the same cushion technology on beefier steel, so you keep the ride quality and gain the capacity to back it.

How the Cushions Work

Two sealed rubber cushions take the shock out of the tow by compressing and rebounding as the road throws it at you. The ball mount pivots on those cushions, which is what lets a cushion hitch ride smoother than a solid mount even when you are loaded to full weight.

A Finish That Hides the Miles

The textured matte black powder coat hides road grime, shrugs off rock chips, and looks right behind a modern blacked-out truck. It is the same finish family as the HD Max Black air-ride line.

No Compressor, No Gauge

Air-ride hitches at this capacity need a compressor and a pressure gauge to stay set. The Impact Max 20K is sealed, so there is nothing to inflate and nothing to check. That is a real advantage on a remote job site or ranch work, where dragging a compressor around is not always practical.

The Trucks and Trailers This Is Built For

Twenty thousand pounds is a serious load. The Impact Max is built for the trucks and trailers that pull that kind of weight, with none of the air-ride fuss.

  • 1-ton pickups (F-350, RAM 3500, GMC 3500HD)
  • Dual-rear-wheel trucks working at full GTW
  • Skid steer trailers, dump trailers, equipment haulers
  • Contractor and ranch trailers pulling at or near 20,000 lbs
  • Fleet trucks where simple and tough beats tunable
  • Owners stepping up from the Impact Cushion 14K who need more capacity

Impact Max 20K vs HD Max Black 20K

Same 20K chassis, same matte black finish. What you are really choosing between is how each one smooths out the ride.

Option 1

Impact Max 20K (this hitch)

Runs sealed rubber cushions, so it stays maintenance-free and comes in about 30 to 40% cheaper. No compressor and no pressure gauge to keep after. This is the one to grab if you want simple, tough, and a clear step up in ride over a solid mount, with no air-ride routine to run.

Option 2

HD Max Black 20K (air-ride sibling)

Uses an adjustable airbag you can tune to any load, with more travel and a smoother ride at any tongue weight. It needs an inflator, and the airbag is a wear item over many years, though you can swap it in the field. This is the pick for daily towers and heavy-haul operators who want to dial the ride in.

Built for the Job Site

On a working ranch, a remote job site, or a busy fleet yard, you do not always have a minute to check airbag pressure before you pull out. The Impact Max 20K takes that step off your plate. Hook up, pull, unhook, and do it again for years with no maintenance routine to keep up. If you want Shocker capacity and ride quality but you treat the hitch like any other piece of fleet gear, this is the line built for you.

Shares Attachments With the HD Max Black

The Impact Max 20K shares its ball mount attachments with the HD Max Black, including combo balls, pintle hooks, clevises, drawbars, raised mounts, and drop mounts. If you run more than one truck across the Shocker lineup, those attachments swap between them across the 20K family, so you buy one set and standardize. The textured matte black powder coat stands up to UV, road salt, and rock chips, and it ships direct from stock in Canada with no border wait.
