Simple Pivot Design
Uses a rocker arm pivot design which produces a front and back motion, much different than other cushion hitches on the market.
Fits Pickup Trucks Only
This is designed for pulling with a Pickup Truck - it will not work with SUV/CUVs with coil-over springs in the rear.
Adjustable & Heavy-Duty
12,000 lbs towing & 1,200 lbs tongue weight capacity plus 8 adjustment holes (5" of rise to 2" drop). Fine tuned for your towing weight. Just add air for heavier loads.
Smoother Safer Towing
Add bolt on air ride towing to your pickup & camper with an equalizer, weight-distribution hitch in minutes. (easily bolt your existing weight-distribution head to air equalizer).
Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.
Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.
You bolted on a weight-distribution hitch to level the truck under a heavy tongue, and it does level the load. But it still chucks. Every frost heave and hard stop punches the trailer's shove straight through the spring bars and into your cab, and mile after mile that jerking wears on the truck, the trailer, and everything you packed inside. This kit fixes the part a WD hitch can't. It pairs the Air Equalizer airbag, which bolts onto your existing or new WD hitch head, with the Shocker XR Extended Range receiver-side base, so the air cushion soaks up the road shock while your spring bars keep doing the leveling. Rated for 12,000 lbs GTW and 1,200 lbs of tongue weight, it fits most major WD brands. Built for pickup trucks only, not SUVs or CUVs riding on coil-over rear springs.

What's in the Kit, and What Each Part Does
Air Equalizer Airbag
The retrofit airbag that bolts onto the head of your weight-distribution hitch, existing or new. It soaks up the chucking and road shock your WD spring bars can't touch on their own.
Shocker XR Extended Range Hitch
The receiver-side base that ties the Air Equalizer to your truck. Its 8 adjustment holes give you 7-8 inches of rise and drop to sit the trailer level. Ships with the receiver shank size you pick.
WD Hitch NOT Included
Bring your own weight-distribution hitch head, or buy one separately. The Air Equalizer is the airbag. The WD hitch is the spring-bar-and-head system that mounts on top of it.
Two Hitch Pins With Clips
Both D-handle pins ship in the box, one for the receiver shank and one for the WD-equalizer interface, so nothing rattles loose.
Fits Most Major WD Hitch Brands
The Air Equalizer head bolts to any WD hitch head with a 2-1/2-inch or 3-3/4-inch center-on-center bolt pattern. Brands we've verified it fits:
- Fastway E2 (round bar and trunnion)
- Equal-i-zer (the brand)
- Reese (round bar and trunnion)
- Husky and Pro Series
- Torklift and Blue Ox round-bar systems
- Camco Eaz Lift
- Curt round-bar and Curt TruTrack/trunnion
- Shocker XR-compatible WD hitches
- NOT compatible with Andersen chain-style or B&W Continuum WD systems
Air Equalizer vs. Other Shocker Air Products
The weight-distribution family solves a different problem than the bumper-pull air hitches:
Air Equalizer for WD (this product)
This kit. For travel trailers heavy enough up front that you need weight distribution to level the truck. It layers an airbag over your WD spring bars. The right call when the tongue weight is squatting your rear suspension.
XR Extended Range Hitch (standalone)
The Shocker XR receiver-side air hitch on its own, without the Air Equalizer. Pick this when your tongue weight isn't a problem and you just want air ride on the receiver.
Original Shocker Air Hitch (steel)
The standard 14K bumper-pull air hitch, no weight distribution built in. Made for lighter trailers at a lower price.
Light Duty 12K Tongue Mount
Puts the air ride on the trailer's A-frame instead of the truck. Handy when you tow the same trailer behind different trucks. It doesn't work with WD.
Important: Pickup Trucks Only
The Air Equalizer is built for pickup trucks running leaf-spring or hybrid rear suspensions (F-150, F-250, F-350, Silverado, Sierra, Ram 1500/2500/3500, Tundra, Titan, Colorado, Canyon, Tacoma, Frontier, Ridgeline). It will not work on SUVs, CUVs, or vans with coil-over rear springs. Those rear ends load a WD system differently, and this hitch's geometry is engineered around how a pickup's leaf springs behave. If you tow with an SUV or CUV, look at the Shocker Cushion Ball Mount line instead.
How to Set the Air Pressure
This setup counts on your WD spring bars doing their job while the airbag does its own. The bars distribute the weight, the air cushions the ride. Hook up your trailer and engage your WD bars first. Then add air until the truck-side bump cushions are no longer compressed. If the trailer-side cushions start to compress, you've put in too much air and need to let some out. Adjust until both sets sit free. Together the 4 bump cushions and the air bag catch the chucking, tugs, and jerks that WD bars alone pass straight into the cab. Owners tell us the ride smooths out dramatically on concrete highways and rough sealed roads.
