Simple Pivot Design
Uses a rocker arm pivot design which produces a front and back motion, much different than other cushion hitches on the market.
Fits Pickup Trucks Only
This is designed for pulling with a Pickup Truck - it will not work with SUV/CUVs with coil-over springs in the rear.
Adjustable & Heavy-Duty
12,000 lbs towing & 1,200 lbs tongue weight capacity plus 10 adjustment holes (5" of rise to 4" drop). Fine tuned for your towing weight. Just add air for heavier loads.
Smoother Safer Towing
Add bolt on air ride towing to your pickup & camper with an equalizer, weight-distribution hitch in minutes. (easily bolt your existing weight-distribution head to air equalizer).
Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.
Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.
You can feel it through the seat. Every frost heave and hard stop, the trailer tugs at the truck and the whole rig chucks back and forth. A weight-distribution hitch levels the load, but those spring bars pass road shock straight into the cab. This kit fixes that. The Air Equalizer airbag bolts onto your existing or new WD hitch head and soaks up the chucking and jolts the bars can't. It rides on the Shocker XR Extended Range base, which drops into your truck's receiver. Rated for 12,000 lbs of trailer behind you and 1,200 lbs on the tongue, it gives travel trailers real breathing room behind half-ton and 3/4-ton pickups. Fits most major WD brands. Pickup trucks only, not SUVs or CUVs with coil-over rear springs.

What's in the Kit and What It Does
Air Equalizer Airbag
The retrofit airbag that bolts onto the head of your weight-distribution hitch, existing or new. It soaks up the chucking and road shock that spring bars alone pass straight through to the truck.
Shocker XR Extended Range Hitch
The base that drops into your truck's receiver and carries the Air Equalizer. 8 adjustment holes give you 7-8 inches of rise and drop, so you can line up level with your trailer. Ships with the receiver shank size you select.
WD Hitch NOT Included
Bring your own weight-distribution hitch head, or buy one separately. The Air Equalizer is the airbag. The WD hitch is the spring-bar-and-head system that mounts on top of it.
Two Hitch Pins With Clips
Both D-handle pins come in the kit, one to lock the receiver shank and one for the WD-equalizer interface. Nothing extra to source before your first tow.
Fits Most Major WD Hitch Brands
The Air Equalizer head bolts onto any WD hitch head with a 2-1/2-inch or 3-3/4-inch center-on-center bolt pattern. Verified to fit:
- Fastway E2 (round bar and trunnion)
- Equal-i-zer (the brand)
- Reese (round bar and trunnion)
- Husky and Pro Series
- Torklift and Blue Ox round-bar systems
- Camco Eaz Lift
- Curt round-bar and Curt TruTrack/trunnion
- Shocker XR-compatible WD hitches
- NOT compatible with Andersen chain-style or B&W Continuum WD systems
Air Equalizer vs. Other Shocker Air Products
The weight-distribution family does a different job than the bumper-pull air hitches:
Air Equalizer for WD (this product)
For travel trailers heavy enough to need weight distribution to level the truck. It puts an airbag on top of your WD spring bars. The right call when tongue weight squats the back end.
XR Extended Range Hitch (standalone)
The Shocker XR receiver-side air hitch sold without the Air Equalizer. Grab it when you want air ride on the receiver but don't need weight distribution.
Original Shocker Air Hitch (steel)
The standard 14K bumper-pull air hitch with no weight-distribution setup. Lighter trailers, lower price.
Light Duty 12K Tongue Mount
Air ride mounted on the trailer A-frame instead of the truck. Handy when you pull the same trailer with more than one truck. Does not work with WD.
Important: Pickup Trucks Only
This is built for pickup trucks with leaf-spring or hybrid rear suspensions (F-150, F-250, F-350, Silverado, Sierra, Ram 1500/2500/3500, Tundra, Titan, Colorado, Canyon, Tacoma, Frontier, Ridgeline). It will not work on SUVs, CUVs, or vans with coil-over rear springs. Those rear ends load a WD system differently, and the Air Equalizer's geometry is tuned for how a pickup's leaf springs behave. If you tow with an SUV or CUV, look at the Shocker Cushion Ball Mount line instead.
How to Set the Air Pressure
The airbag and the spring bars split the work. The bars distribute the weight, the airbag does the damping. Hook up your trailer and engage your WD bars first. Then air up the hitch until the truck-side bump cushions are no longer compressed. If the trailer-side bump cushions start to compress, you've put in too much air, so let some back out. Dial it in until both sets of cushions sit free. Together the 4 bump cushions and the airbag swallow the chucking, tugs, and jerks that WD bars alone send through to the truck cab. Owners report a dramatically smoother ride on concrete highways and rough sealed roads.
