Simple Pivot Design
Uses a rocker arm pivot design which produces a front and back motion, much different than other cushion hitches on the market.
Fits Pickup Trucks Only
This is designed for pulling with a Pickup Truck - it will not work with SUV/CUV's with coil over springs in the rear.
Smoother Safer Towing
Add bolt on air ride towing to your pickup & camper with a equalizer, weight-distribution hitch in minutes. (easily bolt your existing weight-distribution head to air equalizer).
Adjustable & Heavy-Duty
12,000 lbs towing & 1,200 lbs tongue weight capacity plus 7 or 9" of Adjustment (5" of rise to 2" drop or choose 5" rise to 4" drop). Fine tune for your towing weight. Just add air for heavier loads.
Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.
Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.
A weight-distribution hitch levels out a heavy travel trailer, but the spring bars pass every jolt straight through. You feel it as chucking: the trailer tugging the truck back and forth over concrete seams, frost heaves, and hard stops. This kit fixes that. It adds an air bag to the WD setup that half-ton and 3/4-ton trucks already run behind travel trailers, so the load stays level and the road shock gets soaked up before it ever reaches the cab. You get the Air Equalizer air bag, which bolts to the head of your existing or new WD hitch, paired with the Shocker XR Extended Range base that drops into your receiver. Rated at 12,000 lbs gross trailer weight with 1,200 lbs of tongue weight, and it fits most major WD brands. Pickup trucks only, not SUVs or CUVs with coil-over rear springs.

What's in the Kit and What Each Part Does
Air Equalizer Air Bag
The retrofit air bag that bolts to the head of your weight-distribution hitch, existing or new. It soaks up the chucking and road shock that WD spring bars pass straight through on their own.
Shocker XR Extended Range Hitch
The base that ties the Air Equalizer to your truck's receiver. 8 adjustment holes give you 7-8 inches of rise and drop, so you can line the trailer up dead level. Ships with the receiver shank size you pick.
WD Hitch Not Included
Bring your own weight-distribution hitch head, or buy one separately. The Air Equalizer is the air bag. The WD hitch is the spring-bar-and-head system that mounts on top of it.
Two Hitch Pins With Clips
Both D-handle pins for securing the receiver shank and the WD-equalizer interface ship in the kit, so there's nothing extra to source before your first tow.
Fits Most Major WD Hitch Brands
The Air Equalizer head bolts to weight-distribution hitch heads with either a 2-1/2-inch or 3-3/4-inch center-on-center bolt pattern. If you already run one of these, it drops right in:
- Fastway E2 (round bar and trunnion)
- Equal-i-zer (the brand)
- Reese (round bar and trunnion)
- Husky and Pro Series
- Torklift and Blue Ox round-bar systems
- Camco Eaz Lift
- Curt round-bar and Curt TruTrack/trunnion
- Shocker XR-compatible WD hitches
- NOT compatible with Andersen chain-style or B&W Continuum WD systems
Air Equalizer vs. Other Shocker Air Products
The weight-distribution family is its own thing, separate from the bumper-pull air hitches:
Air Equalizer for WD (this product)
For travel trailers that need weight distribution to level the truck. It pairs an air bag with a WD spring-bar system. This is the one to reach for when a heavy tongue weight is squatting your rear end.
XR Extended Range Hitch (standalone)
The Shocker XR receiver-side air hitch sold without the Air Equalizer. Grab this when you don't need weight distribution and just want air ride on the receiver.
Original Shocker Air Hitch (steel)
The standard 14K bumper-pull air hitch with no weight-distribution provision. Built for lighter trailers at a lower price.
Light Duty 12K Tongue Mount
Air ride that mounts on the trailer's A-frame instead of the truck. Handy when you pull the same trailer with more than one truck. It does not work with WD.
Important: Pickup Trucks Only
The Air Equalizer is built for pickups with leaf-spring or hybrid rear suspensions (F-150, F-250, F-350, Silverado, Sierra, Ram 1500/2500/3500, Tundra, Titan, Colorado, Canyon, Tacoma, Frontier, Ridgeline). It is NOT compatible with SUVs, CUVs, or vans with coil-over rear springs. Those rear suspensions react to WD systems differently, and the Air Equalizer's geometry is tuned for how pickup leaf springs behave. If you tow with an SUV or CUV, look at the Shocker Cushion Ball Mount line instead.
How to Set the Air Pressure
The Air Equalizer leans on your WD spring bars doing their job. The bars distribute the load, the air bag does the dampening. Hook up the trailer and engage your WD bars first. Then air the hitch until the truck-side bump cushions are NOT compressed. If the trailer-side bump cushions start to compress, you have put in too much air. Dial it in until both sets of cushions are free. Those 4 bump cushions and the air bag work together to absorb the chucking, tugs, and jerks that WD bars alone send straight into the cab. Owners report a much smoother ride on concrete highways and rough sealed roads.
