The Air Equalizer airbag bolts to the head of your existing or new WD hitch and soaks up the road shock that spring bars alone push straight through. It pairs with the Shocker XR Extended Range receiver base, so weight distribution and air ride work together on one bolt-on setup.

Rated for 12,000 lbs GTW and 1,200 lbs of tongue weight, which is real breathing room for travel trailers behind a half-ton or 3/4-ton truck. Fits most major WD brands. Built for pickups, not SUVs or CUVs with coil-over rear springs.

Air Equalizer Airbag: The retrofit airbag that bolts to the head of your weight-distribution hitch, new or existing. It soaks up the chucking and road shock that WD spring bars alone leave in the ride.

Shocker XR Extended Range Hitch: The receiver-side base that ties the Air Equalizer to your truck. 8 adjustment holes give 7-8 inches of rise and drop, so you can get the trailer sitting level. Ships with the receiver shank size you select.

WD Hitch NOT Included: You bring the weight-distribution head, or add one separately. The Air Equalizer is the airbag underneath. The WD hitch is the spring-bar-and-head system that mounts on top of it.

Two Hitch Pins With Clips: Both D-handle pins are in the box, one for the receiver shank and one for the WD-equalizer connection. Nothing else to buy to lock it all together.

The Air Equalizer head bolts to weight-distribution heads with either a 2-1/2-inch center-on-center or 3-3/4-inch center-on-center bolt pattern. Here's what's verified to fit:

Air Equalizer for WD (this product): For travel trailers that need weight distribution to level a heavy tongue. It layers an airbag over a WD spring-bar system. Reach for this when tongue weight is squatting the rear of the truck.

XR Extended Range Hitch (standalone): The Shocker XR receiver-side air hitch on its own, without the Air Equalizer. The right pick when you don't need weight distribution and just want air ride on the receiver.

Original Shocker Air Hitch (steel): A standard 14K bumper-pull air hitch with no weight-distribution provision. Good for lighter trailers at a lower price.

Light Duty 12K Tongue Mount: Air ride mounted on the trailer's A-frame instead of the truck. Handy when you pull the same trailer with more than one truck. Doesn't work with WD.

The Air Equalizer is built for pickups with leaf-spring or hybrid rear suspensions (F-150, F-250, F-350, Silverado, Sierra, Ram 1500/2500/3500, Tundra, Titan, Colorado, Canyon, Tacoma, Frontier, Ridgeline). It does not work on SUVs, CUVs, or vans with coil-over rear springs.

Those rear ends load up differently under a WD system, and the Air Equalizer's geometry is tuned for how pickup leaf springs behave. If you tow with an SUV or CUV, look at the Shocker Cushion Ball Mount line instead.

The airbag dampens, the WD spring bars distribute, and they only work right together. Hook up your trailer and engage the WD bars first. Then air the hitch up until the truck-side bump cushions are no longer compressed. If the trailer-side cushions start to squash, you've gone too far, so let some air back out. You want both sets of cushions free.

How to set the air? After you hook up wd bars, air the hitch until the truck side bump cushions are not compressed. If the trailer side bump cushions are compressed you have too much air in the bag. See video

The Shocker Hitch is a heavy-duty unit that in most cases exceeds factory towing weight capacities, therefore it is imperative that you always read and follow the tongue and towing weight recommendations of the truck that is mounted on, the hitch & ball rating, the trailer coupler rating and the ratings of the trailer you are towing.
