Simple Pivot Design
Uses a rocker arm pivot design which produces a front and back motion, much different than other cushion hitches on the market.
Fits Pickup Trucks Only
This is designed for pulling with a Pickup Truck - it will not work with SUV/CUVs with coil-over springs in the rear.
Adjustable & Heavy-Duty
12,000 lbs towing & 1,200 lbs tongue weight capacity plus 10 adjustment holes (5" of rise to 4" drop). Fine tuned for your towing weight. Just add air for heavier loads.
Smoother Safer Towing
Add bolt on air ride towing to your pickup & camper with an equalizer, weight-distribution hitch in minutes. (easily bolt your existing weight-distribution head to air equalizer).
Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.
Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.
You feel it in the cab. A weight-distribution hitch load-levels your truck and controls sway, but those spring bars still pass every frost heave, expansion joint, and hard stop straight through to your seat. That constant chucking wears on the truck, the trailer, and your cargo. This kit fixes the part a WD hitch leaves behind. It bolts the Air Equalizer airbag onto the head of your weight-distribution hitch (existing or new) and mates it to the Shocker XR Extended Range base on your receiver, softening the ride right where the trailer meets the truck. Rated at 12,000 lbs GTW with 1,200 lbs tongue weight, so there is real room to spare on most travel trailers behind a half-ton or 3/4-ton pickup. It fits most major WD brands. Pickup trucks only, not for SUVs or CUVs with coil-over rear springs.

What's in the Kit and What Each Part Does
Air Equalizer Airbag
The retrofit airbag that bolts onto the head of your weight-distribution hitch, existing or new. It soaks up the chucking and road shock that WD spring bars pass straight through on their own.
Shocker XR Extended Range Hitch
The receiver-side base that connects the Air Equalizer to your truck's receiver. Its 8 adjustment holes give 7-8 inches of rise and drop range so you can set the trailer level. Ships with the receiver shank size you select.
WD Hitch NOT Included
Bring your own weight-distribution hitch head, or buy one separately. The Air Equalizer is the airbag. The WD hitch is the spring-bar-and-head system that mounts on top of it.
Two Hitch Pins With Clips
Both D-handle pins are in the box, one for the receiver shank and one for the WD-equalizer connection, so you are ready to hook up.
Fits Most Major WD Hitch Brands
Odds are it fits the hitch you already own. The Air Equalizer head bolts to weight-distribution heads with either a 2-1/2-inch or 3-3/4-inch center-on-center bolt pattern. Verified compatible:
- Fastway E2 (round bar and trunnion)
- Equal-i-zer (the brand)
- Reese (round bar and trunnion)
- Husky and Pro Series
- Torklift and Blue Ox round-bar systems
- Camco Eaz Lift
- Curt round-bar and Curt TruTrack/trunnion
- Shocker XR-compatible WD hitches
- NOT compatible with Andersen chain-style or B&W Continuum WD systems
Air Equalizer vs. Other Shocker Air Products
Not sure this is the right Shocker for your setup? Here is how the weight-distribution family differs from the bumper-pull air hitches:
Air Equalizer for WD (this product)
For travel trailers that need weight distribution to level a squatting truck. It pairs an airbag with your WD spring bars, and it is the right call when the tongue weight is more than the rear suspension can settle on its own.
XR Extended Range Hitch (standalone)
The Shocker XR receiver-side air hitch sold without the Air Equalizer. Reach for it when you don't need weight distribution and just want air ride on the receiver.
Original Shocker Air Hitch (steel)
The standard 14K bumper-pull air hitch with no weight-distribution provision. Meant for lighter trailers at a lower price.
Light Duty 12K Tongue Mount
Air ride mounted on the trailer A-frame instead of the truck. A good fit when you pull the same trailer with more than one truck. It does not work with WD.
Important: Pickup Trucks Only
Before you order, check what you tow with. The Air Equalizer is built for pickup trucks with leaf-spring or hybrid rear suspensions (F-150, F-250, F-350, Silverado, Sierra, Ram 1500/2500/3500, Tundra, Titan, Colorado, Canyon, Tacoma, Frontier, Ridgeline). It is not compatible with SUVs, CUVs, or vans with coil-over rear springs. Those rear suspensions load a WD system differently, and the Air Equalizer's geometry is engineered around how a pickup leaf spring behaves. If you tow with an SUV or CUV, look at the Shocker Cushion Ball Mount line instead.
How to Set the Air Pressure
Getting it dialed in takes a few minutes and no guesswork. The airbag dampens and the spring bars distribute, so the WD bars have to be doing their job first. Hook up your trailer and engage your WD bars, then air the hitch until the truck-side bump cushions are no longer compressed. If the trailer-side cushions start to compress, you have too much air in it, so let some back out until both sets of cushions ride free. The 4 bump cushions and the air bag work together to absorb the chucking, tugs, and jerks that WD bars alone transmit straight into the truck cab. Owners report a dramatically smoother ride on concrete highways and rough sealed roads.
