Simple Pivot Design
Uses a rocker arm pivot design which produces a front and back motion, much different than other cushion hitches on the market.
Fits Pickup Trucks Only
This is designed for pulling with a Pickup Truck - it will not work with SUV/CUVs with coil-over springs in the rear.
Adjustable & Heavy-Duty
12,000 lbs towing & 1,200 lbs tongue weight capacity plus 10 adjustment holes (5" of rise to 4" drop). Fine tuned for your towing weight. Just add air for heavier loads.
Smoother Safer Towing
Add bolt on air ride towing to your pickup & camper with an equalizer, weight-distribution hitch in minutes. (easily bolt your existing weight-distribution head to air equalizer).
Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.
Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.
The Shocker Air Equalizer for WD Hitch Kit adds air-ride dampening to a weight-distribution hitch — the standard tow setup for travel trailers behind half-ton and 3/4-ton trucks. The kit pairs the Air Equalizer airbag (which bolts to your existing or new WD hitch head) with the Shocker XR Extended Range receiver-side hitch base. Rated at 12,000 lbs GTW with 1,200 lbs tongue weight. Compatible with most major WD brands. Pickup trucks only — not for SUVs/CUVs with coil-over rear springs.

What's in the Kit — and What It Does
Air Equalizer Airbag
The standalone retrofit airbag that bolts to the head of your weight-distribution hitch (existing or new). The air bag absorbs chucking and road shock that WD spring bars alone can't dampen.
Shocker XR Extended Range Hitch
The receiver-side base hitch that mates the Air Equalizer to your truck's receiver. 8 adjustment holes give 7-8 inches of rise/drop range. Ships with the receiver shank size you select.
WD Hitch NOT Included
Bring your own weight-distribution hitch head (or buy one separately). The Air Equalizer is the AIRBAG — the WD hitch is the spring-bar-and-head system that mounts on top of it.
Two Hitch Pins With Clips
Both D-handle pins for securing the receiver shank and the WD-equalizer interface ship in the kit.
Fits Most Major WD Hitch Brands
The Air Equalizer head bolts to weight-distribution hitch heads with either a 2-1/2-inch center-on-center or 3-3/4-inch center-on-center bolt pattern. Verified compatible:
- Fastway E2 (round bar and trunnion)
- Equal-i-zer (the brand)
- Reese (round bar and trunnion)
- Husky and Pro Series
- Torklift and Blue Ox round-bar systems
- Camco Eaz Lift
- Curt round-bar and Curt TruTrack/trunnion
- Shocker XR-compatible WD hitches
- NOT compatible with Andersen chain-style or B&W Continuum WD systems
Air Equalizer vs. Other Shocker Air Products
The weight-distribution family is distinct from the bumper-pull air hitches:
Air Equalizer for WD (this product)
For travel trailers needing weight distribution to load-level the truck. Pairs an airbag with a WD spring-bar system. The right answer when tongue weight overwhelms the rear suspension.
XR Extended Range Hitch (standalone)
The Shocker XR receiver-side air hitch sold WITHOUT the Air Equalizer. Use when you don't need weight distribution — just air ride on the receiver.
Original Shocker Air Hitch (steel)
Standard 14K bumper-pull air hitch with no weight-distribution provision. Lighter trailers, cheaper price.
Light Duty 12K Tongue Mount
Trailer-side air ride on the trailer A-frame. Different mounting strategy — when you tow with multiple trucks. Not compatible with WD.
Important: Pickup Trucks Only
The Air Equalizer is designed for pickup trucks with leaf-spring or hybrid rear suspensions (F-150, F-250, F-350, Silverado, Sierra, Ram 1500/2500/3500, Tundra, Titan, Colorado, Canyon, Tacoma, Frontier, Ridgeline). It is NOT compatible with SUVs, CUVs, or vans with coil-over rear springs — those rear suspensions interact with WD systems differently and the Air Equalizer's geometry is engineered for pickup leaf-spring behavior. If you tow with an SUV/CUV, see the Shocker Cushion Ball Mount line instead.
How to Set the Air Pressure
The Air Equalizer relies on the WD spring bars working as designed — the airbag dampens, the spring bars distribute. Hook up your trailer and engage your WD bars first. Then air the hitch until the truck-side bump cushions are NOT compressed. If the trailer-side bump cushions become compressed, you have too much air. Adjust until both sets of cushions are free. The 4 bump cushions plus the air bag together absorb the chucking, tugs, and jerks that WD bars alone transmit through to the truck cab. Owners report dramatically smoother rides on concrete highways and rough sealed roads.
