A loaded travel trailer riding on a weight-distribution hitch levels the truck out, but it still chucks and jerks over frost heaves and hard stops, and every one of those tugs works its way into your cab, your trailer, and whatever you packed inside.

A standard WD setup (the usual way to tow a travel trailer behind a half-ton or 3/4-ton truck) spreads the tongue weight but does nothing to soften that shock. This kit fixes that by adding air ride. The Air Equalizer airbag bolts onto the head of your existing or new WD hitch, and the Shocker XR Extended Range base ties it into your receiver.

Rated at 12,000 lbs GTW with 1,200 lbs tongue weight, it fits most major WD brands. Pickup trucks only, not for SUVs or CUVs with coil-over rear springs.

Air Equalizer Airbag: The retrofit airbag that bolts to the head of your weight-distribution hitch, new or the one you already run. It soaks up the chucking and road shock that WD spring bars alone just pass straight through to you.

Shocker XR Extended Range Hitch: The receiver-side base that ties the Air Equalizer into your truck's receiver. 8 adjustment holes give 7 to 8 inches of rise and drop so you can level the trailer, and it ships with the receiver shank size you select.

WD Hitch NOT Included: Bring your own weight-distribution hitch head, or buy one separately. The Air Equalizer is the AIRBAG. The WD hitch is the spring-bar-and-head system that mounts on top of it.

Two Hitch Pins With Clips: Both D-handle pins ship in the kit, one to secure the receiver shank and one for the WD-equalizer interface.

Air Equalizer for WD (this product): For travel trailers that need weight distribution to level the truck. It puts an airbag on top of a WD spring-bar system. The right call when the tongue weight is heavy enough to squat the rear suspension.

XR Extended Range Hitch (standalone): The Shocker XR receiver-side air hitch on its own, without the Air Equalizer. Reach for it when you don't need weight distribution and just want air ride on the receiver.

Original Shocker Air Hitch (steel): The standard 14K bumper-pull air hitch with no weight-distribution provision. Lighter trailers, lower price.

Light Duty 12K Tongue Mount: Air ride mounted on the trailer A-frame instead of the truck. A different approach for when you tow with more than one truck. Not compatible with WD.

The Air Equalizer is built for pickup trucks with leaf-spring or hybrid rear suspensions (F-150, F-250, F-350, Silverado, Sierra, Ram 1500/2500/3500, Tundra, Titan, Colorado, Canyon, Tacoma, Frontier, Ridgeline). It is NOT compatible with SUVs, CUVs, or vans on coil-over rear springs.

Those rear ends load up differently under a WD system, and the Air Equalizer's geometry is tuned specifically for how a pickup's leaf springs behave. If you tow with an SUV or CUV, look at the Shocker Cushion Ball Mount line instead.

The Air Equalizer works with your WD spring bars, not around them. The bars distribute the weight, the airbag dampens the shock. Hook up your trailer and engage your WD bars first. Then air up the hitch until the truck-side bump cushions are NOT compressed. If the trailer-side bump cushions start to compress, you've got too much air.

Adjust until both sets of cushions are free. Together the 4 bump cushions and the air bag absorb the chucking, tugs, and jerks that WD bars alone hand straight to the cab. Owners report a much smoother ride on concrete highways and rough sealed roads.

How to set the air? After you hook up wd bars, air the hitch until the truck side bump cushions are not compressed. If the trailer side bump cushions are compressed you have too much air in the bag. See video

The Shocker Hitch is a heavy-duty unit that in most cases exceeds factory towing weight capacities, therefore it is imperative that you always read and follow the tongue and towing weight recommendations of the truck that is mounted on, the hitch & ball rating, the trailer coupler rating and the ratings of the trailer you are towing.
