I've ridden in the trailer myself — the difference in shock is huge. Our horses come off so much more relaxed, and there's less wear on the truck and trailer too.

Adds Life To Your Vehicle

By reducing wear and tear on driveline and frame. Treat yourself, your equipment, and your passengers to a much smoother ride.

Improves Safety

By giving you improved control of your tow vehicle and trailer. The air ride receiver hitch system allows for better control of your pickup and the trailer it is towing.

Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.

Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.

You feel every frost heave and hard stop through a solid drawbar. The trailer jerks the truck, the truck jerks the trailer, and your cargo takes the beating the whole way home. The Original Shocker Air Hitch is the red-powder-coat workhorse that started the air-ride hitch category, and it drops an adjustable air spring between your truck and trailer to soak up that jarring before it ever reaches either one. It fits F-250 / RAM 2500-class three-quarter-ton trucks (class V receivers) with a 2-1/2-inch receiver, and its 14,000 lbs GTW handles just about any mid-weight bumper-pull you'll hook to a three-quarter-ton, all on Shocker's standard 8-hole chassis. Built for stock-suspension full-size pickups pulling livestock, boats, travel trailers, and contractor cargo, it rides just as easy on gravel and section roads as it does on the highway.

Key Highlights

  • Pulls up to 14,000 lbs GTW and 1,400 lbs of tongue weight, plenty for the heaviest bumper-pull behind a three-quarter-ton, all on the original 8-hole chassis
  • Drops straight into the 2-1/2-inch receiver on F-250 / RAM 2500-class three-quarter-ton trucks (class V receivers)
  • Air up for a heavy load or bleed it down for a light one, so every trailer rides level and smooth
  • Rocker-arm pivot does the work on one joint, so there are no slides, rollers, or parallel linkages to wear out
  • 3-1/2" to 7-1/2" of drop lets you set the coupler where it belongs so the trailer tows level
  • Iconic safety-red, impact-resistant powder coat that keeps looking good through years of hard use
  • Works with 20+ Shocker ball-mount attachments, and you can swap them in seconds
  • Comes with our 60-day satisfaction guarantee, so you can try it on your own rig

Installation

How Shocker Air Ride Works

Built-In Air Spring

A heavy-duty air bag sits under the receiver tube and soaks up the jerking, tugging, and hard hits before they reach your truck or trailer. There's no solid metal-to-metal connection passing shock straight through.

Adjustable for Any Load

Add air when the load is heavy and bleed some out when it's light. Set the pressure to match, and the hitch sits at proper ride height every time you hook up.

Rocker-Arm Pivot

Shocker's signature down-and-back motion runs on a single pivot, with no slides, rollers, parallel linkages, or stacked airbags. Fewer moving parts means less to wear out and a longer service life.

Dual Bump Cushions

Two backup rubber cushions catch the extreme jolts the air bag can't fully swallow, so you've got a built-in safety margin under the hardest hits.

Who Reaches for the Original 14K

Built for stock-suspension full-size trucks pulling mid-weight bumper-pull loads on real-world roads.

  • Livestock haulers pounding gravel and section roads all season
  • Boat owners bouncing over rough launch ramps and slab highways
  • Travel-trailer and toy-hauler owners who want a calmer ride up front
  • Contractors pulling cargo, equipment, and enclosed work trailers
  • RV motorhome owners with a 2-1/2-inch receiver under the bumper
  • F-250 / RAM 2500-class three-quarter-ton owners (class V receivers) who want the original red-finish workhorse

Sway Control: Two Configurations

You get sway-control tabs or skip them depending on the ball-mount attachment you choose:

Option 1

Standard Ball Mount (No Sway Tabs)

Right for boats, livestock trailers, equipment haulers, and any load that doesn't need friction sway bars. The pivoting air-ride design already cuts down on sway on its own.

Option 2

Ball Mount With Welded Sway Tabs

Adds welded tabs for friction sway-bar kits (sold separately). A smart pick for travel trailers and tall-profile campers that get pushed around by crosswinds.

Flippable Drop / Rise Geometry

This Shocker Air Hitch & Clevis Mount ships set up for 3-1/2" to 7-1/2" of drop. A coupler that sits too high or too low drags one end of the trailer down and chews up tires and bearings, so most Shocker ball mounts flip over to turn drop into rise, and 8 adjustment holes let you fine-tune the exact coupler height. Whether you're pulling a low travel trailer behind a lifted truck or a tall camper behind a stock pickup, the geometry adapts so the trailer tows level.

Built to Last

Heavy-wall steel wears Shocker's signature impact-resistant safety-red powder coat, and it's in stock and shipping direct from Canada with no border wait. The air bag is the same multi-ply rubber that rides under commercial truck air suspensions, and if it ever needs replacing you can swap it in minutes in your own driveway. It's backed by Shocker Hitch's 60-day satisfaction guarantee.
