Get Your Truck Bed Back
Converting to gooseneck towing allows you to get more of your truck bed back and remove the bulky 5th wheel slider.
Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.
Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.
That forward-and-back chucking a 5th-wheel throws through the kingpin does real damage. It rattles the cabinets and dishes, wears the truck driveline, and beats up your back on a long haul. This complete bolt-on fixes it and gets your truck bed back. It converts a 5th-wheel kingpin camper to gooseneck towing with built-in air ride, and it comes with the heavy-duty replacement gooseneck pin box, the Shocker Gooseneck Surge air hitch, and a Demco EZ Latch coupler for a 2-5/16-inch ball. Rated at 24,000 lbs GTW and 6,000 lbs tongue weight, so there's real headroom under a heavy camper. Off comes your factory pin box, out goes the bed-hogging slider.

What This Kit Converts
Your Factory Pin Box Comes Off
Your camper's stock 5th-wheel kingpin pin box comes off and the Shocker gooseneck pin box bolts into the same holes. No welding and no drilling, just your existing hardware.
Air Ride Right at the Coupling
The Shocker Gooseneck Surge air hitch slides into the new pin box, and its built-in air bag takes the chucking, jerking, and banging out of the ride before those hits ever reach the truck cab.
Now You Tow Gooseneck
The included Demco EZ Latch coupler drops onto any 2-5/16-inch gooseneck ball in your truck bed and latches itself the moment it seats. No reaching under to lock it.
Your Bed Opens Back Up
No more giant 5th-wheel slider eating two-thirds of your bed. A gooseneck ball drops in flush and the rest of the bed stays open for gear.
Which Factory Pin Boxes This Fits
This line ships in three SKUs, sorted by your camper's factory pin box. The kit you're looking at fits a specific set, so read the label on your existing pin box before you order:
- Lippert 1621, 0719, Rhino Box (SKU SH-RVGC-4405 variant)
- Lippert 1716, 1116, 0115, FabEx 500/503/520/530/560 (SKU SH-RVGC-4410 variant)
- Lippert Turning Point (SKU SH-RVGC-4415 variant)
- Compatible with RBW 7028 and similar straight-pin patterns
- All three variants share the same air hitch, coupler, and 24,000 lbs rating
- Reuses your existing pin box bolts for installation
Full Kit vs. Other Camper Conversion Paths
There's more than one way to upgrade a 5th-wheel camper, and this kit is the most complete of them:
Full Kit (this product)
Pin box, air hitch, and Demco EZ Latch coupler together. A complete bolt-on to gooseneck towing, and the right call if you don't already own any of these parts.
Hitch Only (replacement)
Just the air hitch and coupler. Go this way if you already own a Shocker gooseneck pin box and only need to replace the upper assembly.
Pin Box Only
Just the gooseneck pin box housing, and the lowest-cost way in. Buy it now and add the air hitch and coupler later when you're ready.
Air Ride Kingpin Box
Keeps you on a 5th-wheel kingpin but adds air-ride cushioning. Pick this if you'd rather not convert to gooseneck and want to keep your existing 5th-wheel hitch in the truck bed.
Why Air Ride Matters Most on a 5th Wheel
A 5th-wheel sends road shock forward and back through the kingpin, and that chucking is the worst kind of jerk to feel inside the camper or up in the cab. The Shocker Gooseneck Surge air hitch is the only air ride hitch built to work in exactly that forward-and-back direction. Its air bag soaks up the chucking before it reaches the cabinets, the slide-outs, the dishes, or your spine. Owners report 1 to 2 mpg in fuel savings, less wear on the truck driveline, and a ride that's noticeably calmer.
Important: Safety Chains Sold Separately
Gooseneck towing legally requires safety chains, so plan on the Shocker SH-PBCK gooseneck chain kit. It's required and sold separately. You reuse your existing pin box bolts, so there's no new mounting hardware to buy. You'll also need a 2-5/16" gooseneck ball already installed in your truck bed (not included). For extra security, the DEM-17654-81 coupler lock and the SH-400GL-ISP-BLK set bolt lock are available separately.
