The Surge Air Gooseneck Kingpin Conversion 30K converts your gooseneck trailer to ride on a low-profile commercial 5th-wheel plate. Instead of a ball coupler, the square-4-5-inch carries a King Pin kingpin socket that drops onto the 5th-wheel jaws of a flatbed truck or semi. Rated 30,000 lbs GTW with 7,000 lbs tongue weight. Gooseneck Trailer, 5th-Wheel Truck

This conversion exists for one specific operator: someone with a gooseneck trailer (with a square or round inner stem) who tows with a flatbed truck or semi that already has a low-profile commercial 5th-wheel plate installed. Instead of welding a gooseneck ball to your flatbed, you swap your trailer's inner stem for the Shocker square-4-5-inch with a King Pin socket. Your gooseneck trailer now drops onto the same 5th-wheel jaws used by semi trailers — with Shocker air ride absorbing the forward-back jerk that flatbed and semi suspensions can't filter.

Read This Before Ordering — Plate Compatibility

This kingpin conversion is engineered for LOW-PROFILE COMMERCIAL 5th-wheel plates only. These are the flat steel plates with sliding jaws you see on flatbed trucks and semi tractors. It is explicitly NOT compatible with camper-style or RV 5th-wheel hitches (Reese, B&W, Curt, Andersen, etc.) — those sit higher off the truck bed and use different geometry. If your truck has a tall RV-style 5th-wheel hitch in the bed for towing a fifth wheel camper, this is the wrong product. King Pin Replaces Ball Coupler

The factory ball coupler is removed entirely and replaced with a forged kingpin socket sized to engage standard commercial 5th-wheel jaws.

Forward-Back Airbag

Installation

Moderate — Some Experience~60 minutes

Confirm your 5th-wheel plate is the low-profile commercial type (NOT a camper RV hitch). Unhook the trailer and raise the gooseneck on its jack. Pull safety pins from your factory inner stem and slide it out of the outer tube. Slide the Shocker square-4-5-inch with kingpin socket into the outer tube, align the height holes, re-pin. Inflate the airbag to starting pressure. Position over the 5th-wheel jaws and engage as you would any kingpin trailer.
