How It Works
Built-In 12K Air Ride
An air bag rides between the coupler and the trailer A-frame and eats the road shock before it can reach your trailer frame, your cargo, or your truck. Sized right for trailers under 12,000 lbs.
Tune It to the Load
Add or bleed air to match what you are hauling. A heavy load takes more air, an empty utility trailer takes less. You set the right pressure every trip.
Simple Rocker Arm Pivot
The coupler pivots down and back on a rocker arm, with no slides, rollers, or parallel linkages to wear out. Fewer moving parts means less to maintain and a longer life.
Keeps Your Clearance

Two Mounting Geometries
Pick the version that matches how your trailer A-frame is built:
Vertical Channel Mount (SH-4000 series)
Fits a 3-1/2-inch wide vertical channel with a 2-inch center-on-center bolt pattern. Pin or bolt it through with 5/8-inch hardware (4-1/2 inches long is what we recommend). This is the usual setup on fabricated trailer A-frames.
Square Plate Mount, 4-Bolt (SH-4500 series)
A 4-1/2-inch square bolt pattern that bolts straight to a flat plate on the trailer tongue. Four bolts and you are done. You will see this on a lot of factory-built utility, cargo, and horse trailers.
Coupler: Buy It Bundled or Add Your Own
You can order the Light Duty 12K as a base frame or already paired with a coupler. Good bundle choices are the Wallace Forge auto-locking 12K coupler (2-inch ball) or a Demco bolt-on coupler. One thing to watch: your tow rating is only as high as the weakest part in the chain. Put a 10K coupler on it and the whole system is rated 10K, not 12K, so match your coupler to your trailer GTW. The 1-inch 1045 medium-carbon steel center pivot bolt is stronger than the typical 5/8-inch bolts that hold a coupler on.

Bolt the air ride to the trailer instead of the truck and every vehicle that hooks up gets the smoother tow without you doing a thing. That pays off when more than one truck pulls the trailer, like your rig on weekdays, a family member's truck on the weekend, and a rental on vacation. Go with the Light Duty 12K when your trailer stays under 12,000 lbs and you do not need the extra headroom of the 25K version. It runs roughly $100 to $300 less than the HD and gives you the same air ride benefits at the lower rating.
