How It Works
Air Cushion at the Connection
An air bag sits between the coupler and the trailer A-frame, catching the road shock before it gets to your trailer frame, your cargo, or your truck. It is sized right for trailers under 12,000 lbs.
Dial It In for the Load
Add air when you are running heavy, let some out when the trailer is empty. A few pumps sets the right pressure for the weight you are actually towing that day, so it rides smooth loaded or bare.
Simple Rocker Arm Pivot
The coupler swings down and back on a rocker arm, with no slides, rollers, or parallel linkages to wear out. Fewer moving parts means less to maintain and a longer life on the road.
Nothing Hanging Low
The air ride sits above the trailer tongue instead of below it, so you keep full ground clearance for steep ramps, driveways, and rough launch sites.

Two Ways to Mount It
Pick the version that matches how your trailer A-frame is built:
Vertical Channel Mount (SH-4000 series)
Fits a 3-1/2-inch wide vertical channel with a 2-inch center-on-center bolt pattern. You secure it with 5/8-inch pins or bolts (4-1/2 inches long is what we recommend). This is the common setup on fabricated trailer A-frames.
Square Plate Mount, 4-Bolt (SH-4500 series)
Uses a 4-1/2-inch square bolt pattern and bolts straight to a flat plate on the trailer tongue. Four bolts and you are done. This is what you find on most factory-built utility, cargo, and horse trailers.
Coupler Bundled or on Its Own
You can buy the Light Duty 12K as a bare base frame or pre-paired with a coupler. Popular bundles run the Wallace Forge auto-locking 12K coupler (2-inch ball) or a Demco bolt-on coupler. One thing to know before you tow: your system is only as strong as its weakest link. Put a 10K coupler on it and the whole setup is rated 10K, even though the mount can handle 12K, so match your coupler to your trailer GTW. The 1-inch 1045 medium-carbon steel center pivot bolt is stronger than the typical 5/8-inch bolts that hold most couplers on.
Why the Air Ride Belongs on the Trailer
Put the air ride on the trailer and every truck that hooks up gets the smoother tow, no extra hardware needed on each vehicle. That is a big deal if you switch tow vehicles: your truck through the week, a family member's truck on the weekend, a rental on vacation. The air ride follows the trailer, so ride quality never depends on which truck is doing the pulling. The Light Duty 12K is the one to grab when your trailer is under 12,000 lbs and you do not need the heavy-duty 25K headroom. It runs roughly $100 to $300 less than the HD version and gives you the same air ride feel at the rating you actually need.
