I've ridden in the trailer myself — the difference in shock is huge. Our horses come off so much more relaxed, and there's less wear on the truck and trailer too.

HD Premium powder coated finish of base frame / with a durable powder coat finish mount.

HD Cushion Hitch for Sway Control

Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.

Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.

You feel every frost heave, every expansion joint, and every hard stop through a solid steel ball mount. It jerks the truck, chucks the trailer back and forth, and beats up whatever you are hauling. The Shocker Impact Cushion 14K takes that punishment out of the ride, and it does it without asking anything of you. It runs the same proven 8-hole steel chassis as the Original Shocker Air Hitch, but swaps the airbag for sealed dual rubber bump cushions, so there is no air pressure to monitor, no compressor to own, and no maintenance to remember. This Impact Cushion Hitch & Chrome Sway Bar Tab Combo Ball Mount w/2" & 2-5/16" Balls is rated at 14,000 lbs GTW with 4" Drop to 4" Rise, fits your receiver, and runs roughly 30 to 40% less than the air-ride version while still towing noticeably smoother than any solid ball mount.

Key Highlights

  • Sealed dual rubber cushions soak up road shock and never ask for maintenance
  • Handles up to 14,000 lbs gross and 1,400 lb on the tongue, the heaviest trailer you'll put behind a half-ton or three-quarter-ton

  • Shank slides straight into a standard receiver
  • Safety red textured powder coat that stands out and shrugs off chips

  • Takes every Shocker ball mount attachment in the catalog, so it grows with your trailers

How the Dual Bump Cushion System Works

Two Sealed Rubber Cushions Do the Work

A pair of dense rubber bump stops sit between the ball mount arm and the receiver frame. Every time the trailer tugs and bounces, they squeeze down and spring back, soaking up the road shock right at the hitch so it never reaches the truck or your cargo.

It Pivots, So It Rides Softer

The ball mount rides on the same lever-arm pivot as the air-ride Original Shocker. That bit of give is exactly what makes a cushion hitch feel smoother than a solid steel mount bolted stiff to your frame.

Sealed Up and Maintenance-Free

The cushions are bonded inside the frame, so there is no air valve, no pressure gauge, and nothing to service. Bolt it in once and pull with it for as long as you own the truck.

Calmer Against Sway

The pivoting cushion design softens the fore-aft jerks that get a trailer swaying in the first place, so most light and mid-weight trailers tow calmer behind it. On heavy loads you will still want a dedicated sway control kit.

Who This Hitch Is Built For

Pick the Impact Cushion when you want a smoother tow but do not want one more thing to check before you leave the yard.

  • Weekend and seasonal towers who hook up a few times a year
  • Anyone who does not want to babysit air pressure or buy a compressor
  • Boat, fish house, snowmobile, and ice house haulers
  • Contractors pulling skid steer, dump, and equipment trailers
  • Anyone stepping up from a solid ball mount on a budget
  • Fleet operators who want zero ongoing hitch upkeep

Cushion vs Air Ride: How to Choose

Both ride better than a solid mount. The choice comes down to travel, tunability, and price.

Option 1

Impact Cushion 14K (this product)

Rubber cushions, roughly 30 to 40% cheaper, and zero maintenance. You get less suspension travel than air ride, but it is a real step up from a solid steel mount. Best for occasional or light-duty towing, or any buyer who would rather keep things simple than fine-tune the ride.

Option 2

Original Shocker Air Hitch (air-ride sibling)

Same chassis with an adjustable airbag. It gives more travel, rides smoother at any load weight, and lets you dial the pressure to match the trailer. It costs more, needs a compressor, and the airbag is a wear item (rare, and field-replaceable when it happens). Best for daily towers and heavy use.

Set It and Forget It

If you only tow a handful of times a year, the last thing you want is a hitch that nags for attention. The Impact Cushion 14K bolts in, pulls your trailer smooth, and never asks to be serviced. There is no air pressure to check before a trip, no airbag to inspect, and no compressor riding around in your toolbox. If you came to Shocker for the name but the air-ride routine is not for you, this is the line built with you in mind.

Same Ecosystem as the Original Shocker

Because the Impact Cushion runs the same chassis as the Original Shocker, every ball mount attachment in the Shocker catalog drops right on: combo balls, pintle hooks, clevises, drawbars, raised mounts, and drop mounts. Buy the base frame once and swap the attachment as your trailers change over the years. It is finished in a safety red textured powder coat that stays easy to spot and shrugs off chips, and it ships direct from our Canadian warehouse with no border wait.
