Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.
Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.
You feel it every time the trailer catches a frost heave or a rough stretch of highway. That hard jolt shoots straight up through a solid steel ball mount and into the truck, jarring your back, chucking the trailer, and beating on whatever you're hauling. This Impact Max Cushion Hitch & 8-Ton Channel Style Pintle Hook with 2" Ball takes the edge off. It uses the same proven 8-hole steel chassis as the Original Shocker Air Hitch, but trades the airbag for sealed dual rubber bump cushions that soak up road shock right at the hitch, so there's no air pressure to watch, no compressor to own, and nothing to maintain. It hauls up to 14,000 lbs GTW, runs a 1" Rise to 6-1/2" Drop, fits 2-1/2-inch receivers, and costs roughly 30 to 40% less than the air-ride version while still towing far smoother than any solid ball mount.
Key Highlights
- Sealed dual rubber cushions soak up road shock with zero maintenance, ever

- 2-1/2-inch shank drops into F-250 and RAM 2500-class three-quarter-ton trucks (class V receivers)

How the Rubber Cushions Smooth Out the Ride
Two Sealed Rubber Bump Cushions
A pair of dense rubber bump stops sit between the ball mount arm and the receiver frame. Every time the trailer tugs or bounces, the cushions squeeze and spring back, catching the road shock at the hitch so it never reaches you in the cab.
It Pivots Instead of Sitting Rigid
The ball mount pivots on the same lever-arm geometry as the air-ride Original Shocker. That bit of give is what makes a cushion hitch feel smoother than a chunk of solid steel bolted to your bumper.
Sealed and Maintenance-Free
The cushions are bonded inside the frame. No air valve to open, no gauge to read, nothing to service. Bolt it in once and pull with it for years.
Calms the Jerks That Start Sway
The pivoting cushion design softens the fore-aft jerks that get a trailer swaying in the first place, so most light and mid-weight trailers tow noticeably calmer. On heavy loads you'll still want a dedicated sway control kit.
Built For These Buyers
Reach for the Impact Cushion when you want a smoother tow but never want to think about air pressure.
- Weekend and seasonal towers who hook up a few times a year
- Anyone who'd rather not fuss with air pressure or buy a compressor
- Boat, fish house, snowmobile, and ice house haulers
- Contractors pulling skid steer, dump, and equipment trailers
- Folks who want a real ride upgrade over a solid ball mount without the air-ride price
- Fleets that want a hitch they never have to service
Cushion or Air Ride: How to Choose
Both ride better than a solid mount. What separates them is travel, tunability, and price.
Impact Cushion 14K (this product)
Rubber cushions, roughly 30 to 40% cheaper, and zero maintenance. You get less suspension travel than air ride, but it's still a clear step up from solid steel. Best if you tow occasionally or light-duty and want simple over tunable.
Original Shocker Air Hitch (air-ride sibling)
Same chassis with an adjustable airbag instead of cushions. You get more travel, a smoother ride at any weight, and the ability to dial the pressure to match each trailer. It costs more, needs a compressor, and the airbag is a wear item (rare to fail, and field-replaceable when it does). Best for daily towers and heavy use.
Set It and Forget It
If you only tow a few times a year, the last thing you want is a hitch that asks for attention. The Impact Cushion 14K bolts in, pulls trailers smoothly, and never needs servicing. There's no air pressure to check before a trip, no airbag to inspect, and no compressor riding along in the toolbox. If you came to Shocker for the reputation but don't want the air-ride routine, this is the line built for you.
Same Ecosystem as the Original Shocker
Because the Impact Cushion shares the Original Shocker chassis, every ball mount attachment in the Shocker catalog bolts right on, including combo balls, pintle hooks, clevises, drawbars, raised mounts, and drop mounts. Buy the base frame once and swap attachments as your trailers change. It's finished in a safety red textured powder coat that stays easy to spot and resists chipping, and it ships direct from our Canadian warehouse, so there's no border wait.
