I've ridden in the trailer myself — the difference in shock is huge. Our horses come off so much more relaxed, and there's less wear on the truck and trailer too.

Dual bump cushion design for

HD contractor, farm and off-road type towing

Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.

Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.

Every hard stop, frost heave, and washboard stretch of road tries to punch its way from the trailer straight into your truck, your cargo, and your back. A solid steel ball mount passes all of it right through. The Shocker Impact Cushion 14K takes the edge off that beating without asking anything of you in return. It is the set-it-and-forget-it answer to air ride: the same proven 8-hole steel chassis as the Original Shocker Air Hitch, but with sealed dual rubber bump cushions in place of the airbag, so there is no air pressure to monitor, no compressor to own, and no maintenance to remember. This Impact Cushion Hitch & Pintle Hook Mount hauls up to 14,000 lbs GTW with 4" Rise to 6-1/2" Drop, slides into 2-1/2-inch receivers, and runs roughly 30 to 40% less than the air-ride version while still towing noticeably smoother than any solid ball mount.

How the Dual Bump Cushion System Works

Two Rubber Cushions Take the Hit

A pair of dense rubber bump stops sit between the ball mount arm and the receiver frame. When the trailer tugs and bounces over rough road, the cushions squash down and spring back, soaking up the shock right at the hitch instead of sending it up through the truck and into you.

A Pivot That Softens the Pull

The ball mount pivots on the same lever-arm geometry as the air-ride Original Shocker. That pivot is what lets a cushion hitch ride smoother than a solid chunk of steel bolted to your receiver.

Sealed Up, Nothing to Service

The cushions are bonded inside the frame. There is no air valve, no pressure gauge, and nothing to service. Bolt it in once and pull with it for the life of the truck.

Calmer, Steadier Behind You

The pivoting cushion design damps the fore-aft jerks that kick off trailer sway. On heavy loads you will still want a dedicated sway control kit, but most light and mid-weight trailers follow along noticeably calmer.

Built For These Buyers

Pick the Impact Cushion when you want a smoother tow but do not want to think about air pressure before every trip.

  • Weekend and seasonal haulers who tow a few times a year
  • Drivers who would rather not babysit air pressure or buy a compressor
  • Boat, fish house, snowmobile, and ice house haulers
  • Contractors pulling skid steer, dump, and equipment trailers
  • Anyone who wants a real step up from a solid ball mount without overspending
  • Fleet operators who want zero ongoing hitch maintenance

Cushion vs Air Ride: How to Choose

Both ride better than a solid mount. The difference comes down to travel, tunability, and price.

Option 1

Impact Cushion 14K (this product)

Rubber cushions do the work, so it runs roughly 30 to 40% cheaper with zero maintenance. You get less suspension travel than air ride, but a clear step up from solid steel. Best for occasional or light-duty towing, or anyone who values simplicity over dialing things in.

Option 2

Original Shocker Air Hitch (air-ride sibling)

Same chassis, but with an adjustable airbag. You get more travel, a smoother ride at any load weight, and you can set the pressure to match the trailer. It costs more, needs a compressor, and the airbag is a wear item (rare, but field-replaceable). Best for daily towers and heavy use.

Set It and Forget It

If you tow a few times a year, the last thing you want is a hitch that keeps asking for attention. The Impact Cushion 14K bolts in, pulls your trailer smoothly, and never needs servicing. There is no air pressure to check before a trip, no airbag to inspect, and no compressor riding along in the toolbox. If you came to Shocker for the reputation but do not want the air-ride routine, this is the line built for exactly that.

Same Ecosystem as the Original Shocker

Because the Impact Cushion shares the Original Shocker chassis, every ball mount attachment in the Shocker catalog bolts right on: combo balls, pintle hooks, clevises, drawbars, raised mounts, drop mounts. Buy the base frame once and swap attachments as your trailers change over the years. It is finished in a safety red textured powder coat that stands out for visibility and shrugs off chips, and it ships direct from our Canadian warehouse, so there is no border wait.
