I've ridden in the trailer myself — the difference in shock is huge. Our horses come off so much more relaxed, and there's less wear on the truck and trailer too.

Stop destroying your trailer and cargo.

Every bump, pothole, and expansion joint sends a violent jolt through your trailer frame, damaging cargo and wearing out your truck. Shocker Air Ride Hitches absorb that punishment at the coupling, before it reaches your trailer.

Every hard stop and frost heave on the highway travels straight up a solid ball mount into your truck, your trailer, and whatever you packed inside. That constant jarring wears on all three and turns a long haul into a white-knuckle grind. The Shocker Impact Cushion 14K takes that hit for you. It uses the same proven 8-hole steel chassis as the Original Shocker Air Hitch, but swaps the airbag for sealed dual rubber bump cushions, so there is no air pressure to monitor, no compressor to own, and nothing to service. This Impact Cushion Hitch & Drop Ball Mount comes with a 2-inch ball and sway bar tabs, hauls up to 14,000 lbs GTW with 0" to 7-1/2" of drop, drops into 2-1/2-inch receivers, and runs roughly 30 to 40% less than the air-ride version while still towing noticeably smoother than any solid steel mount.

Key Highlights

  • Sealed dual rubber cushions soak up road shock and never ask for a thing
  • Hauls up to 14,000 lbs GTW and 1,400 lb of tongue weight, the heaviest bumper-pull loads you will put behind a three-quarter-ton
  • Costs about 30 to 40% less than the air-ride Original Shocker Hitch
  • 2-1/2-inch shank slides into F-250 and RAM 2500-class three-quarter-ton trucks (class V receivers)
  • Safety red textured powder coat that stays visible and shrugs off chips
  • 7-hole adjustable frame flips over when you need more drop or rise
  • Takes every Shocker ball mount attachment in the catalog, so it grows with your trailers
  • No air pressure to check, no compressor to buy, and nothing new to learn

How the Dual Cushion System Smooths the Ride

Two Sealed Rubber Cushions Take the Hit

A pair of dense rubber bump stops sit between the ball mount arm and the receiver frame. When the trailer tugs and bounces, the cushions squeeze and spring back, soaking up the road shock right at the hitch instead of passing it into your truck and cargo.

It Pivots Instead of Fighting You

The ball mount pivots on the same lever-arm geometry as the air-ride Original Shocker. That bit of give is exactly what makes a cushion hitch feel smoother than a rigid steel mount that hands you every jolt.

Sealed In, So It Never Needs You

The cushions are bonded inside the frame. There is no air valve, no pressure gauge, and nothing to service. Bolt it in once and pull with it for the life of the truck.

Calmer Behind the Truck

The pivoting cushion design dampens the fore-aft jerks that kick off trailer sway, so most light and mid-weight trailers tow noticeably calmer. On heavy loads you will still want a dedicated sway control kit running alongside it.

Who This Hitch Is For

Reach for the Impact Cushion when you want a smoother tow and would rather never think about air pressure again.

  • Weekend and seasonal towers who hook up a few times a year
  • Anyone who does not want to babysit air pressure or own a compressor
  • Boat, fish house, snowmobile, and ice house haulers
  • Contractors pulling skid steer, dump, and equipment trailers
  • Anyone who wants a real upgrade over a solid ball mount without overspending
  • Fleet operators who want zero ongoing hitch maintenance

Cushion or Air Ride: How to Pick

Both ride better than a solid mount. What separates them is suspension travel, how much you can tune it, and price.

Option 1

Impact Cushion 14K (this hitch)

Rubber cushions, roughly 30 to 40% cheaper, and zero maintenance. It gives up some suspension travel next to air ride, yet it still rides far better than solid steel. Best for occasional or light-duty towing, or anyone who values simplicity over fine-tuning.

Option 2

Original Shocker Air Hitch (air-ride sibling)

The same chassis with an adjustable airbag. You get more travel, a smoother ride at any weight, and the ability to dial pressure to match the trailer. It costs more, needs a compressor, and the airbag is a wear item (rare, and field-replaceable). Best for daily towers and heavy use.

Set It and Forget It

If you tow a few times a year, the last thing you want is a hitch that nags for attention before every trip. The Impact Cushion 14K bolts in, pulls trailers smoothly, and never needs servicing. There is no air pressure to check before you leave, no airbag to inspect, and no compressor riding along in the toolbox. If you came to Shocker for the name but the air-ride routine is not for you, this is the line built with you in mind.

Fits the Whole Shocker Attachment Family

Because the Impact Cushion shares the Original Shocker chassis, every ball mount attachment in the Shocker catalog bolts right on, including combo balls, pintle hooks, clevises, drawbars, raised mounts, and drop mounts. Buy the base frame once and swap attachments as your trailers change. It wears a safety red textured powder coat that stays easy to spot and resists chipping, and it ships direct from our Canadian warehouse with no border wait.
